Firerose has described her experience with former husband Billy Ray Cyrus as “narcissistic abuse,” alleging patterns of control and isolation. Those are her characterizations, not a clinical diagnosis or a court finding. The reports establish what Firerose, Cyrus and people quoted by media outlets said; they do not independently establish whether the alleged conduct occurred.
What Firerose said about “narcissistic abuse”
In a December 2025 Instagram post, Firerose wrote, “If you’ve survived narcissistic abuse, you’re not alone,” according to E! News. E! News and Yahoo News reported that her video and accompanying text described patterns she associated with abuse, including control, isolation, rage, manipulation and feeling as though she had to walk on eggshells. These are Firerose’s descriptions of her experience; the phrase “narcissistic abuse” should not be read as a diagnosis of Cyrus.
What she later alleged about life on the Tennessee property
In an October 2, 2026 report, Parade recounted Firerose’s interview with Page Six. Firerose said she felt isolated and described the property as a “farm prison,” saying, “I call it farm prison, because that’s what it was for me.” She alleged restrictions on seeing friends, attending church, leaving freely and recording solo music, and called the situation “classic narcissistic abuse.” These claims are reported allegations, not independently verified findings.
How the public statements fit the relationship timeline
- October 2023: Firerose and Cyrus married, according to Global News and E! News.
- May 2024: Cyrus filed for divorce, E! News reported.
- August 5, 2024: Global News reported that the divorce was finalized after seven months of marriage.
- December 2025: Firerose posted the video and text about surviving “narcissistic abuse,” as reported by E! News and Yahoo News.
- January 21, 2026: Global News reported on another Instagram post in which Firerose accused Cyrus of abuse and shared audio. The outlet described the recording as alleged and said Firerose claimed the man’s voice was Cyrus’s.
- October 2, 2026: Parade reported Firerose’s later interview claims about isolation and the Tennessee property.
What Cyrus and other sources have said
Global News reported that Cyrus had previously responded to a different leaked recording by saying, “Hell yeah I was at my wit’s end.” That response concerned the earlier recording and is not, by itself, a confirmation or denial of Firerose’s later allegations. In its January 2026 article, Global News said Cyrus had not responded to Firerose’s comments at the time of publication; that statement is limited to that report’s publication time.
