Billie Eilish signed Melissa McCarthy’s forehead with a marker during the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards on February 24, 2024. McCarthy first asked Eilish to autograph her dress, but Eilish declined rather than risk ruining it; McCarthy then offered her face.
How the autograph exchange happened
McCarthy asked Eilish to sign her dress. Eilish said she did not want to ruin it, so McCarthy handed her a marker and suggested her face instead. Eilish signed McCarthy’s forehead onstage, and the two presenters played along with the joke.
TheWrap described the marker as a Sharpie, while other contemporary coverage called it a permanent marker; the precise model is not established. McCarthy’s request and the exchange are covered in TheWrap’s February 24, 2024 report, and the moment also appeared in Entertainment Tonight’s video coverage from the ceremony.
Which award were they presenting?
Eilish and McCarthy presented the award for female actor in a comedy series. Ayo Edebiri won for The Bear, as reported by the Associated Press in its February 25, 2024 account of the SAG Awards.
