Ben Cousins guessed that Fred again.. might be behind a huge stage being built at Langley Park in Perth. At the time, no performer had been named. The guess proved prescient: Fred again.. later announced a show at the park on Saturday, 30 March 2024, and the concert went ahead.
What Ben Cousins saw at Langley Park
On 27 March 2024, former West Coast Eagles player Ben Cousins told Mix94.5’s Pete & Kymba for Breakfast that he lived opposite Langley Park and had watched a large crew build a stage and concert infrastructure. PerthNow quoted him estimating that about 100 workers were on site; that was Cousins’s estimate, not an independently verified headcount.

He also said no artist’s name was on the bill yet and guessed that about 30,000 people might attend at some point over the weekend. Those were his advance expectations, not confirmed event figures.
“I live opposite Langley Park in the city — and there was 100 workers there putting up this monster stage and infrastructure for this concert — and no ones name is on the bill yet but we’re assuming there is going to be 30,000 there at some stage over the weekend,”

Cousins said he was a Fred again.. fan and would try to get a ticket if the DJ played. He joked that he would forgo Easter eggs in exchange for one. The construction was the clue behind his prediction, not evidence that the performer had already been confirmed.
Fred again.. was later confirmed for 30 March
On 27 March, PerthNow reported that Fred again.. would play Langley Park on Saturday, 30 March 2024. The tour promoter’s itinerary also lists Langley Park for that date. The later announcement confirmed Cousins’s hoped-for artist; it does not change the fact that his initial comments were speculation.

Tickets sold out, and the show went ahead
PerthNow reported that general-admission tickets cost A$129 and sold out in under two hours. On 29 March, the publication reported that Fred again.. had arrived in Perth ahead of the sold-out performance and that about 35,000 fans were expected. That figure was a pre-event expectation, not a verified final attendance count.
A 31 March PerthNow review confirms the Langley Park concert took place and describes a four-hour set. Together, the later announcement and event coverage show how Cousins’s guess—based on a stage rising across from his home—turned into a real Perth show.
