Chris Evans has been reported to be part of Avengers: Secret Wars, but his quoted remarks do not name that film or confirm he is returning as Captain America. ComicBook.com connected his comments about starting work on “the next one” to Secret Wars; separately, a theatrical teaser confirmed his return as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday.
Did Chris Evans confirm he is in Secret Wars?
Not by naming the film. In a video quotation published by ComicBook.com on June 15, 2026, Evans says: “I can’t tell you how much I’m in the next one, but I’m in it.” The sentence confirms involvement in an unnamed project, but it does not identify that project as Avengers: Secret Wars. ComicBook.com and other reporting connect it to Secret Wars through the timing and context of his comments. ComicBook.com’s June 15 report also follows its March 28 report on audio in which Evans said he would start work on “the next one” in a couple of months. The earlier report likewise did not quote him naming Secret Wars.
What is confirmed about his return to the Avengers films?
A different project has a clearer confirmation: a theatrical teaser revealed Evans returning as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday. TheWrap reported that reveal on December 18, 2025. TheWrap’s teaser report describes Secret Wars as the direct sequel to Doomsday. That confirmation supports his return in Doomsday; it does not, on its own, establish what his role will be in the follow-up.
What is not known about Captain America’s role?
The reporting cited here does not establish whether Evans appears in Secret Wars as Captain America, how much screen time he might have, or what happens to Steve Rogers. His quoted phrase “the next one” is too general to answer those questions. Treat the Secret Wars appearance as a reported identification of his unnamed project, not as a detailed character announcement.

How does Secret Wars fit into the upcoming films?
Avengers: Secret Wars is described as the direct sequel to Avengers: Doomsday. TheWrap reported in January 2025 that Stephen McFeely would write both films and the Russo brothers would direct both. TheWrap’s report on the filmmakers gives that shared creative context, but it does not confirm Evans’s character or part in Secret Wars.
Which Secret Wars comics can readers explore?
Marvel lists two collected comic options for readers who want background on the title. They represent different comic-book storylines; neither collection’s existence establishes that the film adapts that run.
