Ugo Bienvenu’s first feature has a strong, immediately legible premise: Iris, living in 2075, encounters Arco, whose rainbow suit marks him as a visitor from a time when travel through history is possible. The setup gives the film a child-to-child connection across radically different worlds, rather than treating time travel as an abstract puzzle.
What is ARCO about?
Iris is ten years old and lives in 2075. One day she sees a boy in a rainbow suit fall from the sky. He is Arco, from a far-off future where time travel is possible. Iris shelters him and tries to help him return home. That premise, described by the Festival de Cannes, makes the film both a science-fiction adventure and a story about an unexpected friendship between children separated by time.
What kind of film is it?
ARCO is an animated adventure and a French 2025 first feature directed by Ugo Bienvenu, who co-wrote the screenplay with Félix de Givry. Its 88-minute runtime is listed by Cannes. The film’s central contrast—2075 against a much more distant future—offers room for speculative world-building, while Iris’s practical effort to get Arco home gives the story a clear goal.
That is a compelling foundation for a family-facing science-fiction film, but the available official descriptions do not establish scene-by-scene details or support claims about particular visual sequences. The title’s promise of a “stunning” film is best treated as a personal critical judgment, not an award or consensus claim. What can be said with confidence is that the film is built around a vivid visual hook, a child-led adventure, and a future-spanning premise.

Who made it, and which voices are in the cast?
Bienvenu directed the film and co-wrote it with Félix de Givry. The voice cast depends on the language and territory of the release. NEON’s English-language listing names Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Flea, and Andy Samberg. Cannes’ French cast listing names Swann Arlaud, Alma Jodorowsky, Margot Ringard Oldra, and others. These are different language-version credits, not competing descriptions of one cast; check the local edition or screening listing for the version you will watch.
How has ARCO been received?
ARCO was in the Cannes 2025 Official Selection as a Special Screening, according to French distributor Diaphana. It won the Cristal for feature film at Annecy 2025. Unifrance also lists a SACEM soundtrack award and 2026 César recognition in the animated feature and original score categories. These honors establish festival and industry recognition; they do not substitute for an individual viewer’s response to the film.

In an interview excerpt published by Unifrance, Bienvenu called ARCO “a metaphor for the best thing that could happen to us.” That description fits the film’s hopeful premise, but it should be understood as the director’s own characterization rather than a plot fact or critical consensus.
When and where can you watch or own it?
Diaphana lists the French theatrical release as 22 October 2025. That is a France date, not a universal release date; availability and release timing vary by market. The official film site says the movie is available digitally but does not identify a service, so check current listings in your country before relying on a particular platform.

Physical editions also differ by territory. NEON lists a 4K UHD/Blu-ray combo for the US market. Diaphana lists DVD, Blu-ray, and a Blu-ray box set in France. Those listings do not establish that every edition is available everywhere or that they share the same language tracks, subtitles, extras, or playback compatibility. Before buying, confirm the region, format, language options, and included features on the specific retailer or distributor page.
Related items are not the same as film editions: NEON lists a hardcover book identified as French-language, a soundtrack vinyl, and merchandise; its captured listing showed the vinyl and some merchandise as sold out. Diaphana links an artbook excerpt. Stock and editions can change, so treat these as catalog listings rather than assurances of current availability.
