A September 2024 rumor claimed that Wanda Maximoff would have a large role in Avengers: Doomsday, but it did not say what she would do—and Marvel has not confirmed the claim in the sources available. A later 2026 rumor described her role as small, so neither account settles whether or how Scarlet Witch appears in the film.
What did the original Wanda leak claim?
On September 25, 2024, Murphy’s Multiverse reported that scooper My Time to Shine Hello claimed the Russo brothers and writer Stephen McFeely had carved out a large role for Wanda Maximoff in Avengers: Doomsday. The report did not provide details about her part in the story or establish that she had been confirmed for the film. Murphy’s Multiverse’s report is the source of the claim, not an announcement from Marvel.
Is Wanda’s role confirmed, or is she alive?
The reports cited here do not confirm Wanda’s appearance in Doomsday, her status in the MCU, or a specific role for her. BGR’s September 25, 2024 article repeated the large-role rumor; its suggestion that the film might give Wanda a redemption arc is the writer’s interpretation, not a plot detail attributed to the scooper. BGR’s article does not turn that interpretation into confirmation.
How does the later rumor compare?
A September 18, 2026 report by SuperHeroHype relayed a newer claim from MyTimeToShineH: Wanda would have a small role in Doomsday and a much larger one in Avengers: Secret Wars. That is also rumor reporting, not studio confirmation. The two accounts characterize her Doomsday role differently, but the available reports do not establish why; neither definitively corrects the other.

No. In a July 16, 2026 report, Syfy quoted Kevin Feige saying, “Yelena plays a big part in that.” The comment concerns Yelena Belova, not Wanda Maximoff, and does not confirm Wanda’s involvement. Syfy’s report offers no evidence about Wanda’s role.
