Marvel has not been confirmed here as having changed Avengers 5’s title—or confirmed that it is still The Kang Dynasty. Marvel listed the film under that name in June 2023, but a December 2023 report said sources were using the generic label “Avengers 5.” Neither that report nor later commentary establishes the film’s current official title. The evidence available for this article also does not verify a current release date.
What is Avengers 5 called now?
The current official title is unverified. The title Avengers: The Kang Dynasty was Marvel’s public listing in June 2023, not proof of what the studio calls the film today. A later report described a change in terminology among sources, while a 2024 opinion piece argued the original title might remain. Those are different kinds of evidence, and neither settles the question.
What the public record shows
| Date | What was reported or announced | What it establishes |
|---|---|---|
| June 13, 2023 | Marvel listed Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and said its release date had moved from May 2, 2025, to May 1, 2026. Marvel’s schedule announcement | Marvel used that title and date in its 2023 schedule. It does not confirm the current title or date. |
| December 20, 2023 | The Mary Sue, citing The Hollywood Reporter, said Marvel sources were using “Avengers 5” rather than The Kang Dynasty, while noting that Marvel had not officially confirmed a title change. The Mary Sue’s report | It records reported internal terminology, not a formal announcement. |
| May 8, 2024 | BGR argued that the title might remain The Kang Dynasty, based on the information and schedule expectations then available. BGR’s commentary | It is an opinion about what might happen, not confirmation from Marvel. |
Why the title may or may not change
The 2023 Marvel listing is direct evidence of the title the studio used at that time. The December report is evidence that sources were reportedly using “Avengers 5,” but it explicitly stopped short of confirming a public title change. BGR’s 2024 case for keeping The Kang Dynasty was speculation, not a studio statement. A working label, a published schedule title, and an official announcement are not interchangeable.
So the headline’s possibility—that The Kang Dynasty might not change—remains just that: a possibility. The available evidence does not establish whether Marvel has retained, replaced, or formally updated the title since those reports.
