PerthNow reported on 25 April 2023 that Australian comedian and influencer Bianka Ismailovski posted an Instagram Story showing her twerking on Anzac Day, then defended it as her own way of honouring the troops. The report describes criticism from followers and a critical response from gossip account Influencer Tea Aus; it does not establish how widespread the backlash was.
What did Bianka Ismailovski post on Anzac Day?
According to PerthNow’s report, published 25 April 2023, Ismailovski shared an Instagram Story that day with the caption: “Spent this morning twerking but then remembered it’s Anzac Day so I guess I’m throwing it back for them. Lest we forget x.”
The report identifies her as a comedian and influencer and says she co-hosts the Sad and Sexy Podcast with comedian Maryellen. The item was an Instagram Story, not a permanent post confirmed to remain online.
What did she say about the video?
PerthNow reported that Ismailovski responded to anticipated criticism by asking, “I know some people are going to be that’s disrespectful, but is it? Me shaking this beautiful, juicy ass. I’m doing it for the troops, we all honour in our own way.” Her explanation was that the dancing was intended as a personal form of tribute.

Why did the post draw criticism?
The criticism centered on whether a comedic, sexually suggestive dance was appropriate on Anzac Day, a national day of remembrance. PerthNow reported that followers criticized the Story. The gossip account Influencer Tea Aus also objected, saying: “This ain’t it! Comedian or not … humour has its place. I don’t think Anzac Day is it.”
PerthNow’s account does not give a count of critics or measure how representative the responses were. The report therefore supports saying the post attracted criticism, not that the public reaction was unanimous or broadly shared.
