Apple reportedly committed nearly $250 million to F1 The Movie, according to Wall Street Journal reporting summarized by Mint. That is an attributed report, not an official audited cost breakdown. Public accounts also describe a production budget of more than $200 million, while producer Jerry Bruckheimer said it was substantially below the $300 million figure circulating at the time.
What does the roughly $250 million figure mean?
Mint summarized Wall Street Journal reporting that Apple agreed to spend nearly $250 million on the film, citing people with knowledge of the matter. The figure is best understood as a reported Apple commitment—not a confirmed final production cost, an audited total, or a disclosed net cost to Apple. Mint’s summary of the Wall Street Journal report does not provide a complete itemized ledger.
That distinction matters because the public figures describe different things. A reported commitment to a film, an estimate of its production budget, and money spent on marketing or distribution are not interchangeable.
How do the public budget estimates compare?
| Figure | What it describes | Attribution and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Nearly $250 million | Reported Apple spending commitment | Wall Street Journal reporting summarized by Mint in 2025, attributed to people with knowledge of the matter; not an audited public figure. Mint |
| More than $200 million | Production-budget estimate | Reported by the Associated Press in 2025; the report does not establish a final audited cost. Associated Press |
| Substantially below $300 million | Bruckheimer’s description of the budget | In an AP interview, producer Jerry Bruckheimer said the budget was substantially lower than the $300 million figure then circulating, without giving a definitive number. Associated Press |
The estimates are not necessarily contradictory: they are attributed descriptions, not a reconciled accounting. The available reporting does not establish a precise final production cost or show how any marketing expenses fit into the reported commitment.

What did the film earn at the box office?
Apple said in October 2025 that global box-office receipts exceeded $629 million. Its film page later described the total as above $630 million. These are gross theatrical receipts, not Apple’s net revenue or profit. Apple TV Press reported the October figure; Apple’s film page later gave the higher threshold.
It would be misleading to subtract the reported commitment from the box-office gross and call the difference profit. The figures do not establish how theatrical revenue was shared with Warner Bros. and exhibitors, what marketing and other costs were incurred, or what Apple ultimately received.

Production scale and soundtrack figures
The production included six cars built for the film, according to Bruckheimer’s account reported by the Associated Press. That detail helps explain the physical scale of the shoot, but does not independently verify a total budget. Associated Press
Apple TV Press reported in August 2025 that the soundtrack had sold more than 650,000 albums worldwide and accumulated more than one billion global streams. Those are Apple-reported music figures, separate from the film’s theatrical receipts. Apple TV Press
