A June 14, 2019, BGR report described an unofficial list of Marvel projects said to be in development—but BGR said it could not confirm the claims. The list is best read as a historical rumor, not as Marvel Studios’ definitive Phase 4 slate or proof that an insider disclosed every project.
What did the 2019 report say was in development?
BGR separated its list into two categories. It reported that these seven films were in active development:
- Black Widow
- The Eternals
- Black Panther 2
- Shang-Chi
- Doctor Strange 2
- Nova
- Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3
The article separately said Marvel supposedly planned six more projects:
- Thor 4
- Ant-Man 3
- Captain Marvel 2
- New Avengers
- Young Avengers
- Dark Avengers
Those are BGR’s reported categories, not confirmed Marvel production statuses. The report’s headline used “every” and “currently in development,” but its own caveat was that the information was unofficial and unverified. BGR’s June 14, 2019 report is the source for what the rumor claimed—not confirmation that the projects were all in development or belonged to Phase 4.

Where did the alleged leak come from?
BGR described a mixed and uncertain source trail. It said the wider list may have appeared on 4chan before being repeated on Reddit; the original 4chan post was no longer available to the article. BGR also connected some details to Roger Wardell, a pseudonym it described as having previously provided accurate information, while acknowledging uncertainty about how the complete list originated. That context does not establish who authored the list or verify its claims.
The article also relayed speculative plot and character details about films and Disney+ shows. Those details were rumor material attributed within the report, not confirmed story plans, so they should not be treated as spoilers for Marvel productions.

Why a development rumor is not a Phase 4 release list
“Rumored,” “discussed,” “announced,” “in development,” “scheduled for release,” and “released as part of a phase” describe different stages or claims. A project can be discussed without receiving a public announcement, and a dated release schedule can change. The 2019 report’s project-status claims therefore cannot, by themselves, establish what Marvel ultimately released in Phase 4.
Marvel’s official updates provide a dated record of what the studio publicly scheduled at particular points, not proof that every title stayed in its assigned slot or that a schedule is a complete final phase list:

- In April 2020, Marvel published an updated calendar following delays. It gave future dates for Black Widow, Eternals, Shang-Chi, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, Thor: Love and Thunder, Black Panther 2, Captain Marvel 2, and an untitled film. Marvel’s April 2020 release-date update documents that schedule as it stood then.
- In May 2021, Marvel described Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as one of the films viewers would experience “for Phase 4.” Marvel’s May 2021 article is an official statement about that film’s phase framing.
- Marvel’s film page lists Thor: Love and Thunder’s release date as July 8, 2022. The official film page records its release date.
These sources have different evidentiary weight from the anonymous or relayed claims in the 2019 report: Marvel’s pages document public studio statements and release history; BGR documents what an unconfirmed rumor said. Neither the rumor nor the cited schedule updates alone establish a complete list of all Phase 4 films.

This report does not support a meaningful accuracy score. BGR’s description of Wardell’s earlier track record is not a claim-by-claim verification of the full list, and the source trail for the compilation was uncertain. Comparing later official schedules with the rumor can show that some titles appeared in public plans, but it cannot prove that the original post was accurate, that a specific leaker supplied each title, or that every project was active when the rumor circulated.
For a chronology reference, Marvel says its official MCU timeline book was created in collaboration with Marvel Studios. It can help readers follow franchise chronology; it does not validate the 2019 anonymous leak.
