Here are Pixar’s 30 released feature films through Hoppers, ranked from weakest to strongest. This is an editorial order, not a critic-score list: story and character work, emotional impact, visual invention and rewatchability all count. Pixar’s catalogue also lists Toy Story 5 for 2026, but it is outside this ranking because the list covers films released through Hoppers.
There is no objective way to settle which Pixar film is best. Rotten Tomatoes, for example, offers a separate ranking based on its Tomatometer; that measures aggregated critic response, not the same thing as this editorial judgment. The order below weighs narrative coherence, character development, emotional effect, visual craft and how well each film holds up on rewatch.
The scope is Pixar’s 30 released feature films through Hoppers. Shorts, series and documentaries are excluded. Pixar’s catalogue lists the feature titles and release years: Pixar feature films. Hoppers opened in U.S. theaters on March 6, 2026, according to Disney’s U.S. release page.
Pixar movies ranked from worst to best
30. Cars 2 (2011)
As a spy caper, it has energetic set pieces and a playful international backdrop, but its globe-trotting plot leaves the characters and emotional stakes feeling thin. It is the least satisfying balance of story and heart in Pixar’s feature catalogue.

- Walt Disney Video Pixar Short Films, Collection 1
29. The Good Dinosaur (2015)
Its landscapes are striking, and the bond between Arlo and Spot gives the adventure a clear emotional center. The familiar coming-of-age journey, however, does not make as much of its unusual premise as it could.
28. Lightyear (2022)
The film gives Buzz a polished science-fiction adventure and some appealing supporting characters. Its connection to the beloved Toy Story space ranger can make the premise feel more compelling than the story that follows.
27. Cars 3 (2017)
Lightning McQueen’s changing role gives this sequel a more reflective theme than its predecessor, and its racing sequences have momentum. It remains a comparatively familiar entry, with fewer surprises than Pixar’s strongest sequels.
26. Elio (2025)
Elio brings a colorful, imaginative alien setting to a story about belonging. Its central idea has charm, though the film does not sustain the emotional and narrative impact of the studio’s very best work.

Merida’s independence and the mother-daughter relationship give the film a worthwhile focus, while its Scottish setting is visually rich. The story’s most affecting material comes from that family conflict; the surrounding adventure is less distinctive.
24. Cars (2006)
Radiator Springs is an appealing world, and Lightning McQueen’s shift from self-absorption to community gives the film an easygoing warmth. Its familiar lessons about slowing down and valuing relationships keep it below Pixar’s more layered stories.
Rank #2
23. Monsters University (2013)
The college setting supplies plenty of comic energy, and Mike and Sulley make an entertaining pair. The film’s strongest point is their chemistry; its underdog story is more conventional than the original’s ingenious premise.
22. Elemental (2023)
Its elemental city is a vivid visual invention, and the romance gives the film a sincere emotional throughline. The world-building and family themes sometimes compete for space, so the story feels less focused than its central relationship.
21. Onward (2020)
The brotherly bond and the wish to reconnect with a lost parent give this fantasy quest its emotional pull. The setting is playful, but the road-trip structure is less surprising than the film’s most personal moments.
20. Hoppers (2026)
Animal-lover Mabel transfers her consciousness into a lifelike robotic beaver so she can communicate with animals, then tries to rally them against a human threat to their habitat. The premise gives the film an inventive route into animal perspectives and environmental conflict. Disney lists its U.S. theatrical opening as March 6, 2026; Pixar’s official film page describes the premise. Its position here reflects the ranking’s overall criteria, not a claim that it has already displaced Pixar’s most enduring classics.
19. The Incredibles 2 (2018)
It keeps the family’s superhero dynamics lively and gives Elastigirl a strong role at the center of the action. The original’s balance of domestic comedy, character conflict and superhero spectacle is harder to recapture, so this sequel lands just outside the top tier.
18. Finding Dory (2016)
Dory’s search for her family turns a comic supporting character into an affecting lead, and the marine-world animation remains inviting. Its emotional destination is clear, though the sequel’s episodic journey is not as tightly shaped as Finding Nemo.

- Toy Story Movie Collection
17. A Bug’s Life (1998)
Flik’s ingenuity and the colony’s resistance make for a satisfying story about courage through cooperation. Its scale and comic ensemble still work, even if later Pixar films have explored similar themes with more complexity.
16. Turning Red (2022)
Mei’s sudden transformations make adolescence visible in a way that is funny, specific and emotionally honest. The film’s strong personality is a strength; its deliberately heightened style may be less appealing to viewers who prefer Pixar’s quieter storytelling.
15. Toy Story 4 (2019)
Woody’s evolving sense of purpose gives the sequel a meaningful question about what it means to be needed. Forky and the new characters add comic life, though the conclusion’s emotional direction is more divisive than the trilogy’s earlier ending.
14. Luca (2021)
This sunlit friendship story makes its small-town Italian setting feel like a summer memory, and Luca and Alberto’s relationship is its real engine. Its gentle scale is refreshing, even if its conflict is less ambitious than that of higher-ranked films.

Adding new emotions lets the sequel explore the turbulence of growing older without losing the original’s visual clarity. It is a thoughtful continuation, though the first film’s concept and emotional architecture remain more surprising.
12. Soul (2020)
Soul pairs an imaginative metaphysical setting with a grounded question about what makes a life meaningful. Its visual and musical ideas are distinctive; its abstract stretches ask for more patience than Pixar’s most immediately accessible adventures.

11. Monsters, Inc. (2001)
The door-based world is a remarkably efficient comic invention, and the relationship between Sulley, Mike and Boo gives it genuine tenderness. It is both a tightly constructed comedy and a story whose emotional stakes remain clear.
10. Toy Story 2 (1999)
Woody’s encounter with his past broadens the original’s toy world while giving the sequel a real dilemma about belonging and permanence. The expanded ensemble and emotional set pieces make it a rare follow-up that deepens rather than merely repeats its predecessor.

Its opening establishes a life’s worth of longing with unusual economy, then gives Carl and Russell an affecting adventure together. The film’s most powerful emotional gesture arrives early, but the relationship that follows gives the journey its lasting warmth.
8. Coco (2017)
Music, family history and memory come together in a visually rich story with a clear emotional destination. Its world is full of color, but its strongest achievement is making the family’s past feel inseparable from Miguel’s future.
7. Finding Nemo (2003)
The ocean becomes a vast, playful adventure while Marlin’s fear and Dory’s openness give the journey a strong character contrast. Its comedy, suspense and parent-child story work together with exceptional clarity.
6. Inside Out (2015)
Turning emotions into characters makes an internal change legible without flattening it into a lesson. The film’s visual invention serves its emotional story at every turn, making it one of Pixar’s most coherent concepts.

Superhero spectacle and family strain are not competing plots here: each makes the other more meaningful. The film’s design, pacing and character conflicts combine into an unusually satisfying action adventure.
4. Toy Story 3 (2010)
Growing up gives the toys’ story a natural and poignant new stake, while the film sustains suspense through a well-shaped escape plot. It brings the original trilogy’s themes of loyalty and change to a powerful conclusion.
3. WALL-E (2008)
For much of its opening, expressive movement and careful visual storytelling do the work of dialogue. Its romance and environmental setting widen into a larger adventure without losing the small character details that make WALL-E and EVE compelling.
2. Ratatouille (2007)
Its Parisian setting and food animation are delightful, but the film’s deeper strength is its understanding of creativity, craft and who gets to make art. Remy’s unlikely ambition gives the story a fresh point of view and a satisfying emotional payoff.

1. Toy Story (1995)
The original remains Pixar’s strongest blend of clear storytelling, inventive world-building and character change. Woody and Buzz begin as rivals, and their uneasy partnership becomes a story about insecurity, friendship and learning to share the spotlight. Its premise is simple; its emotional logic is enduring.

Hoppers is part of the released-feature count, not merely an announced future title. Disney’s U.S. page gives its theatrical opening date as March 6, 2026, while Pixar describes Mabel’s robotic-beaver body and her effort to organize animals against a threat to their habitat. The film’s high-concept setup places it in a different imaginative lane from Pixar’s toy, family and coming-of-age stories, but this ranking judges it by the same storytelling and craft criteria as the rest.
