His profile is not only a story of family connection: Schwarzenegger has described years of ongoing theater study and has taken supporting roles before his part in the HBO series.

In a June 2025 interview with W Magazine, Schwarzenegger said he worried viewers might see Saxon as one-note. He also recognized the character as part of a line of provocative men established in the show’s first two seasons. The third season has eight episodes, according to the same interview.
TheWrap’s June 2025 conversation with Wood reported that the cast spent seven months filming the season in Thailand. Wood said Schwarzenegger’s own personality was distinct from Saxon’s unpleasant persona. That distinction matters: a fictional character’s conduct is not evidence of the actor’s character.

What did Patrick Schwarzenegger do before the show?
Before The White Lotus, he had supporting television roles in the drama The Staircase and the superhero series Gen V. The role of Saxon raised his visibility, but it was not his first acting work.
In a June 2025 W Magazine interview, Schwarzenegger said he continued taking theater classes for roughly 11 or 12 years after graduating college. That figure is his account of his training, not an independently measured career statistic. A Paramount+ / CBS Sunday Morning interview page also features him discussing his background and work.
How does he talk about being Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son?
Schwarzenegger has described the family name as both an advantage and a source of added scrutiny. In a June 2025 Variety interview, he acknowledged the opportunities his parents gave him while also describing the assumptions people make about how he gets cast. He said he had considered using an alias earlier in his career.
His answer does not reduce his career either to family connections or to a claim that those connections played no part. He summarized the pressure this way: “I feel it in multiple different ways.” The quote refers to the baggage and public expectations tied to his parents’ success.

The same Variety conversation included Arnold Schwarzenegger’s praise for his son’s performance: “Your acting surprised the hell out of me. I didn’t recognize you.” Patrick also described a change in audience response as Saxon’s story unfolded, from initial dislike toward sympathy. These are the interviewees’ accounts of the role and its reception, not independent evidence about casting decisions.

Saxon’s early behavior gives viewers an immediate reason to react strongly to him, while the season gradually complicates that first impression. Schwarzenegger said he was concerned the character might seem one-dimensional; Wood’s account of the cast’s collaboration and the evolving dynamic with Chelsea helps explain how the performance was positioned within the ensemble.

In TheWrap’s interview, Schwarzenegger described the uncertainty of working through scenes together: “Kind of everyone’s in this boat, unsure, and then you just kind of make it work.” The comment speaks to the collaborative process on set rather than serving as a claim that one performer alone shaped the character.
