That lead is slim and based on just five critic reviews, however. This ranking uses Rotten Tomatoes’ critic-facing Tomatometer, not its separate audience score, and reflects a snapshot checked October 7, 2026. Ratings and review counts can change.
How this Peter Pan ranking works
The films are ordered by Tomatometer, Rotten Tomatoes’ measure of the share of approved critics who reviewed a film positively. The Popcornmeter is listed separately: it measures the share of users who gave a film at least 3.5 stars, so it is not combined with the critic score.
This is a ranking of the four relevant Rotten Tomatoes adaptation pages identified for this article, not a complete catalogue of every screen production based on Peter Pan. The 2000 entry is an A&E restaging, rather than a conventional feature-film release. Scores and counts below are the Rotten Tomatoes snapshot checked October 7, 2026.
| Rank | Title | Tomatometer | Critic reviews | Popcornmeter | Audience ratings | Format and runtime |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Peter Pan (2000) | 80% | 5 | 71% | 25,000+ | A&E restaging; runtime not stated on the cited source |
| 2 | Peter Pan (1953) | 79% | 42 | 80% | 250,000+ | Animated; 76 minutes |
| 3 | Peter Pan (2003) | 77% | 141 | 75% | 250,000+ | Live-action; 113 minutes |
| 4 | Peter Pan & Wendy (2023) | 63% | 150 | 11% | 5,000+ | Live-action; runtime not stated in the cited source |
1. Peter Pan (2000): 80%
Rotten Tomatoes places this A&E restaging first, but its 80% Tomatometer comes from only five critic reviews. That is just one percentage point above the 1953 Disney film’s score, which is based on 42 reviews, so the two percentages do not rest on similarly sized review samples. The 2000 page also reports a 71% Popcornmeter from 25,000-plus audience ratings. Rotten Tomatoes: Peter Pan (2000)

2. Peter Pan (1953): 79%
Disney’s 76-minute animated adaptation is close behind at 79%, based on 42 critic reviews. Its Popcornmeter is 80% from more than 250,000 audience ratings—the highest audience percentage among these four entries. Rotten Tomatoes’ critic consensus describes it as “a heartwarming, exuberant film with some great tunes,” while noting that it “doesn’t delve deeply into the darkness of J.M. Barrie’s tale.” Rotten Tomatoes: Peter Pan (1953)
3. Peter Pan (2003): 77%
P. J. Hogan’s 113-minute live-action adaptation earns a 77% Tomatometer from 141 critic reviews and a 75% Popcornmeter from more than 250,000 audience ratings. Rotten Tomatoes’ consensus calls it “visually impressive” and “psychologically complex,” while describing it as solid rather than definitive. The page credits J. M. Barrie as a writer. 4. Peter Pan & Wendy (2023): 63%
David Lowery’s adaptation has a 63% Tomatometer from 150 critic reviews. Its Popcornmeter is 11% from more than 5,000 audience ratings; that audience measure is distinct from the critic score and does not determine this ranking. Rotten Tomatoes describes the film as based on Barrie’s Peter and Wendy and inspired by the 1953 animated film. Its critic consensus says Lowery’s direction brings the adaptation some of its own magic, while its fidelity to the animated classic holds it back. Rotten Tomatoes: Peter Pan & Wendy (2023)
