How the Connections puzzle works

The New York Times describes Connections as a game in which players receive 16 words and find four groups of four that share something in common. Each group has a color: yellow is the easiest and purple the trickiest. The daily puzzle releases at midnight in the player’s timezone and is available through the Games app and NYT digital properties. See the NYT Help Center’s Connections page for current game and access details.
