Is it the same movie as the one from the Dungeons & Dragons directors?
No. A separate Star Trek movie reported by TheWrap on November 14, 2025, was described as wholly original and unconnected to previous or current Star Trek series, films or earlier movie-development projects. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein were reported as writing, producing and attached to direct that film. TheWrap’s description distinguishes it from the previously reported origin-story project. TheWrap’s report on the Daley and Goldstein project.

Has the origin movie started production, or does it have a release date?
The available reporting does not establish a production start or release date for the origin-story project, nor does it settle its present development status. Paramount and CBS Studios’ September 2025 franchise announcement discussed other plans and a LEGO Group collaboration but did not mention this film. That omission is not evidence that the movie was cancelled. Paramount and CBS Studios’ September 2025 announcement.
