Spoilers ahead for Deadpool & Wolverine. The film’s most memorable cameos bring back actors and characters from earlier Marvel movies, especially in the Void, where displaced survivors join the fight against Cassandra Nova. Here’s who appears, where you’ve seen them before, and whether each return matters to the story or works mainly as a callback.
Why the Void brings these characters together
The Void gives the film a story reason to gather characters from different Marvel movie continuities. Their appearances are not all alike: some join the central action, some get a brief confrontation, and others are visual references or variants. The returning characters’ earlier screen histories supply much of the humor and emotional weight.
George Cottle, the film’s second-unit director and stunt coordinator, described the action as character-driven: “So much of it was driven by the characters, Ryan and Shawn really wanted to pay tribute to these incredible characters that fans have admired for years.” The Credits
The major returning characters
Chris Evans as Johnny Storm / the Human Torch
Evans appears as Johnny Storm, the Human Torch he played in Fantastic Four (2005) and Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007). The surprise works by inviting viewers to expect a different Marvel hero from Evans before revealing which character he is playing. It is a return to his earlier Fantastic Four role, not a Captain America appearance.

Jennifer Garner as Elektra
Garner reprises Elektra, whom she played in Daredevil (2003) and the Elektra (2005) spin-off. In the Void, she is among the survivors who join the fight against Cassandra Nova. The film also makes a joke referencing Garner’s former off-screen relationship with Ben Affleck, who played Daredevil.
Wesley Snipes as Blade
Snipes returns as Blade from the trilogy Blade (1998), Blade II (2002), and Blade: Trinity (2004). Like Elektra, he joins the Void survivors. His line—“There’s only ever been one Blade. There only ever going to be one Blade.”—plays as a character and franchise-history joke; it is not confirmation about future casting.

Keen returns as Laura, also known as X-23, the character she played in Logan (2017). Laura was created through an experiment using Logan’s DNA. In this film, she is with the Void survivors and helps Wolverine reconsider his past.

Lively is identified with Lady Deadpool, a masked Deadpool variant. Her contribution is a voice role, and her face is not shown on screen.

The film also features multiple Wolverine variants. The Los Angeles Times highlights several, including Cavill’s appearance, but the available coverage does not provide a definitive frame-by-frame inventory of every masked Deadpool or Wolverine variant. These are best understood as a group of brief variant appearances, not a fully catalogued cast list.
Other notable appearances and visual callbacks
- Lady Deathstrike (Kelly Hu), Toad, Azazel, and Juggernaut: These villainous mutants appear among the film’s shorter or less central returns.
- Ant-Man: The corpse of Ant-Man is visible in the Void. It is a sighting and visual callback, not a conventional guest performance.
These additional appearances broaden the Void’s collection of characters from earlier Marvel films, but they should not be mistaken for an exhaustive list of every background figure or masked variant.
How the cameos connect to earlier Marvel movies
The returns draw on several separate film histories, rather than introducing one newly unified continuity. Evans’s appearance points back to the early Fantastic Four films; Snipes’s and Garner’s to their earlier solo-franchise and crossover roles; and Keen’s to Logan. The Void supplies the present-day story connection, while the earlier films explain why each face or character is recognizable.
The official Disney press kit lists the principal billed cast and the filmmakers, but a principal cast list is not a complete cameo roster. The cameos above distinguish the prominent speaking or plot-connected returns from brief fights, variants, and background sightings.
