Annabel Schofield, the Welsh model and actress who played Laurel Ellis on the original Dallas, died in Los Angeles on February 28, 2026, aged 62. The Los Angeles Times and BBC reported that cancer had spread to her brain.
Who was Annabel Schofield?
Schofield was born on September 4, 1963, in Llanelli, Wales. She began modeling in London as a teenager and later worked in fashion, television, film and production. The Television Academy records her birth and passing dates and lists selected screen credits in its remembrance.
The Los Angeles Times reported that she worked with fashion houses including Versace and Yves Saint Laurent. A biography published in connection with her novel also named Revlon, Avon and Levi’s; that same biography claimed more than 60 magazine covers and more than 120 television commercials. Those figures are attributed totals, not independently audited counts.
What was her role on Dallas?
Schofield played Laurel Ellis on the original Dallas. The Los Angeles Times describes it as a guest appearance in the show’s 11th season. Her selected Television Academy credits also include an appearance in Dangerous Curves and the films A Man Is Mostly Water, Clifford and Midnight Blue. These are selected credits, not a complete filmography.

Why is the Bugle Boy commercial remembered?
One of Schofield’s best-known modeling appearances was a late-1980s Bugle Boy jeans commercial set in the desert. As the Los Angeles Times recounted, a man asks, “Excuse me. Are those Bugle Boy jeans you’re wearing?” Schofield’s character replies, “Thank you.” The brief exchange became a recognizable advertising moment.
What did she do after modeling and acting?
Schofield later worked in film and television production and wrote The Cherry Alignment, described as a semi-autobiographical novel. The Los Angeles Times reported that it was released in late 2013 and that Amazon categorized it under “Erotica,” in the “Humorous” sub-category. That report does not establish the book’s current listing, format or availability.
