The 2024 Broadway Playbill for The Outsiders credited Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s daughter as “Vivienne Jolie,” but that credit alone did not establish a legal name change. A later report said she filed a petition to change her name to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie; as of October 4, 2026, the petition was awaiting a hearing scheduled for November 2, 2026.
What name appeared in The Outsiders Playbill?
The 2024 Playbill for the Broadway musical listed her as “Vivienne Jolie,” according to The Independent, Us Weekly and Entertainment Tonight. This establishes the name used for her production credit, not by itself a legal change. The Independent noted at the time that it was unclear whether the credit reflected a permanent legal adjustment or a professional choice.
Did Vivienne legally change her name?
A later report published by The Daily Beast on July 22, 2026 said that Vivienne filed a petition in Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie. The report said the reason listed in the petition was “personal” and that a hearing was scheduled for November 2, 2026.
Because that hearing date was still in the future on October 4, 2026, the reported filing was a petition awaiting a hearing—not confirmation that a court had granted the request. The available reporting does not establish the outcome.

What was Vivienne’s role in the musical?
Reports described Vivienne as part of the production team, with Entertainment Tonight calling her a producer’s assistant and Us Weekly describing her as an assistant and coproducer. Angelina Jolie was also part of the musical’s producing team. At the production’s Broadway debut, Jolie told Us Weekly of her daughter: “She’s been a really tough assistant. She takes it very, very seriously.”
What the credit does—and does not—tell us
- It does show: the Playbill printed “Vivienne Jolie” as her name in the production credit.
- It does not show: that the credit itself changed her legal name.
- The later report adds: a petition seeking a legal name change, with a hearing date that had not yet occurred as of October 4, 2026.
Some coverage placed the 2024 credit in the context of Jolie and Pitt’s broader legal disputes. That context does not establish why Vivienne used “Jolie” in the Playbill, and the reported petition’s stated reason was “personal.” The credit and petition are evidence of separate events; neither supports claims about her private motives or family relationships.
