What Seyfried said happened
In a PEOPLE interview reported in March 2025, Seyfried described the incident as an accidental wardrobe malfunction. She said the gown was already coming apart on the red carpet and was “kind of sewn together,” according to The Independent’s March 10, 2025 report.
Seyfried recalled talking with Powell near her table and lifting her arms while they joked. As Us Weekly reported on March 9, 2025, she said: “My boobs fell out of my dress at the 2023 Critics Choice Awards.” She described the moment this way: “I was talking to Glen Powell in the corner near my table, and we were joking around about something, and I lifted my arms up, and my boobs were just out. My dress fell apart.”
Powell covered her, Seyfried recalled
Seyfried said they both screamed, then Powell covered her. She called him a gentleman in recounting his response to the incident, as quoted by Us Weekly. Her account describes his immediate help; it does not establish further details about their exchange.

She borrowed a jacket to go onstage
Seyfried said she ended up wearing someone else’s jacket when she went onstage with the The Dropout team. The group accepted the award for best limited series, according to Fox News’s March 9, 2025 report.
