Minka Kelly is the daughter of Maureen Dumont Kelly and guitarist Rick Dufay, who performed with Aerosmith. Kelly’s 2023 memoir, Tell Me Everything, is the clearest first-person account of her family history: she writes about being raised by her mother and reconnecting with her father later in life.
Who are Minka Kelly’s parents?
Kelly’s parents are Maureen Dumont Kelly and Rick Dufay. The publisher of Kelly’s memoir describes her as raised by a single mother and says she later reconnected with her father, guitarist Rick Dufay. What has Minka Kelly said about her mother?
Kelly’s memoir recounts an unsettled childhood and a complicated relationship with Maureen, who was a central figure in her early life. In an interview ahead of the memoir’s release, Kelly described her childhood to People as “colorful and chaotic, unstable and inconsistent, unpredictable and hard a lot of the times,” as quoted by the Los Angeles Times. That is Kelly’s retrospective description, not an independent account of every private family event.
Harper’s Bazaar identifies her mother as Maureen Dumont Kelly and reports that she died of cancer in 2008. The magazine’s 2023 interview coverage provides that biographical detail.
