Félix Auger-Aliassime’s parents are Sam Aliassime, a tennis coach originally from Togo, and Marie Auger. Sam coached Félix during his childhood, while Marie has described supporting him at tournaments and helping keep family life balanced. Their story also connects Félix to Togo, his father’s home country, and to charitable work there.
Who are Félix Auger-Aliassime’s parents?
The ATP identifies Sam Aliassime as Félix’s father and a tennis coach from Togo, and Marie Auger as his mother. Félix’s sister, Malika, also plays tennis, according to the ATP player biography.
Did Sam Aliassime coach Félix?
Yes. Félix began playing tennis with his father at age five, according to the ATP. Team Canada says Sam coached him until he was 13. Sam later handed coaching duties to other coaches, but remained in contact with Félix and his coach, offering advice and perspective around planning and reviewing the season, Tennis Canada reported in 2023.
What role has Marie Auger described?
In a 2019 interview with Tennis Canada, Marie described supporting Félix during tournaments while treating tennis as his responsibility. She said she aimed to stay positive, communicate, and maintain a supportive atmosphere at home. She also spoke about valuing his conduct and character, not only his tennis results. Her recollection of Félix comforting a defeated junior opponent was an example she gave of the behavior she valued.
