The preview was described as a quick, bloody glimpse of the action and carried a graphic-violence warning.
What the first look shows
Crunchyroll News described the early preview as an attack “from all directions,” presenting a short, violent taste of the series rather than a full account of its story. Its report warned that the two-minute video contains graphic violence. The clip’s intensity fits the central setup: Higan had been living under a new identity, but his family’s murder draws him back into the life he tried to leave behind.
Why Joe Higan returns to violence
In Adult Swim’s January 17, 2024 announcement, Higan is a former member of a ninja clan whose wife and son are killed by a mysterious shadow organization. He sets out for vengeance, while an FBI agent and a rookie partner investigate the murders and the conspiracy behind them. Sola Entertainment describes the story as a modernized take on the ninja: a man escapes to rural America with his family, only for the past to catch up with him.
The creative team behind Ninja Kamui
Adult Swim named Sunghoo Park as director. Park, whose directing credits include God of High School and Jujutsu Kaisen, described the series as “a gripping action series about a hero hell-bent on payback” and said the ninja of old Japan had been reimagined for the near future. Takashi Okazaki created the original character designs; Sola Entertainment lists Sayaka Koiso as character designer and identifies E&H production as the production studio. Adult Swim also announced a new song from the Japanese band coldrain.
