Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteAdam Driver said he and Lady Gaga blocked the intimate scene in House of Gucci like any other scene, ran it once or twice, and then filmed it. He also said they had been working together for about a month and felt comfortable with the material. So his description is not that they improvised from scratch: it combines preparation with his remark that they “winged it.”
How Driver described preparing for the scene
In an interview published by iHeartRadio on November 18, 2021, Driver described a brief, practical process: he and Gaga blocked the scene, ran it once or twice, and filmed it. He said they had been shooting together for about a month by then, which helped them feel comfortable going where the scene needed to go. Read the iHeartRadio account.
“We blocked it out as we would any fight or any scene, then we just kind of ran it maybe once or twice, and that was it!”
Was the scene improvised?
Not entirely, based on Driver’s account. Blocking and a brief run-through happened before filming. He also joked, “We were feeling it, so to speak! Everything I say sounds like a double entendre, but we winged it.” In context, “winged it” describes how they approached the performance after that preparation; it does not erase the blocking and rehearsal he explicitly mentioned. iHeartRadio reproduced Driver’s remarks.

What the scene means in the film
In Ridley Scott’s crime drama, Driver plays Maurizio Gucci and Gaga plays Patrizia Reggiani. The scene occurs early in the film, while the couple’s relationship is developing. A Gshow report published November 19, 2021, and updated March 21, 2022, attributes to Driver the interpretation that Patrizia uses sex as a tool and that the scene physically expresses the couple’s dynamic. Read Gshow’s report.
Driver’s comments concern this particular scene. They do not establish a general production policy or say whether an intimacy coordinator was involved.
