What Schwarzenegger said about returning to Predator
Variety reported on March 10, 2026, that Schwarzenegger spoke about the possibility at the Arnold Sports Festival in Columbus, Ohio. His words were: “Now, he wants me to be in the next ‘Predator.’ We’ve talked about it.” The “he” refers to director Dan Trachtenberg.
That statement supports saying the two have discussed a role for Schwarzenegger. It does not establish that he has been cast or that a film featuring him has been formally approved. How the reported talks differ from his 2025 cameo
Schwarzenegger played Major Alan “Dutch” Schaefer in the original Predator (1987). In July 2025, Trachtenberg announced that Dutch would appear in an alternate or extended ending for the animated film Predator: Killer of Killers. Trachtenberg directed Predator: Killer of Killers and Predator: Badlands. Disney described Badlands, released theatrically in November 2025, as centering on Dek, a young Predator, and Thia, an android. Trachtenberg has described the original film’s changing style as one reason it stood out to him: “That was the first time I had ever seen a movie like that, that started out as a military action movie, then became a horror movie, then a slasher movie, then a science-fiction movie,” he told Disney. That genre-mixing history provides context for the franchise’s varied entries, but it does not reveal what a potential next film—or Schwarzenegger’s role in it—would be.
What is known about Predator: Badlands’ opening
Disney reported estimated opening-weekend figures of $80 million globally and $40 million domestically for Predator: Badlands, describing them at the time as the franchise’s strongest global opening and a domestic opening record.
