Al Pacino is the clear example here of a celebrity who welcomed a child after 80: he was 83 in 2023. Robert De Niro, by contrast, was 79 when he became a father for the seventh time. One name in a widely circulated 16-person list, Guy Pearce, does not qualify: that list says he became a father at 48.
Celebrity fathers over 50: who qualifies?
The list below uses the age reported by Bounty Parents in its September 1, 2023 article, except where a material conflict or eligibility error is called out. Its ages are reported biographical details, not ages recalculated here from birth dates. “First-time father” means the man had not previously become a father; “later child” means he already had children. Those are different milestones.

What the list gets wrong—and where ages differ
Guy Pearce is not an after-50 example
Bounty Parents includes Pearce but says he became a father at 48. That makes him ineligible for a list of fathers after 50; he is excluded from the qualifying names above rather than counted to preserve the original total.

Mick Jagger’s age is reported inconsistently
Bounty Parents gives Jagger’s age as 72 when his eighth child was born in 2016; The Washington Post reports 73. Because the sources disagree by a year, both reported figures are shown rather than treating either as settled.
Announcement age is not necessarily birth age
The Washington Post’s Pacino coverage says he was 83 while expecting a child; Bounty Parents reports that he welcomed his fourth child at 83 in June 2023. These are distinct events, even though the sources place both at the same age.

The Washington Post’s historical overview also notes Charlie Chaplin, whose youngest child was born when he was 73. That makes him a historical example, not part of the modern 16-name list. The article says oldest-father claims are disputed and identifies Les Colley as the oldest documented father recognized by Guinness World Records: he was 92 in 1991. A celebrity example should not be presented as a verified world record.
For additional contemporary names, E! News published a roundup titled “Al Pacino, Robert De Niro & More Celeb Dads Who Had Kids Later in Life” on June 17, 2023. The available page information is limited, so it is not used here to establish specific ages or milestones.
