Five songs brought them together

Entertainment Tonight counted five songs together through 2018: “Bang Bang,” “Get On Your Knees,” “Side to Side,” “The Light Is Coming,” and “Bed.” That is the count reported in its 2019 account, rather than a claim that every possible discographic credit has been independently audited here. They publicly praised one another
- Grande helped with Minaj’s dress train at the 2018 VMAs. At the August 20 awards, Grande held the train as Minaj walked to accept an award, TIME reported. TIME
- Minaj praised Grande during her acceptance speech. She called Grande “my baby” and said, “I’m so proud of you. I’m so freaking proud of you, Ariana,” according to TIME’s account of the ceremony. TIME
- A lyric sparked speculation about a feud in 2019. Fans wondered whether a line in Minaj’s “Bust Down Barbiana” referenced Grande’s “Thank U, Next.” The question was fan interpretation, not confirmation of a dispute. Entertainment Tonight
- Grande rejected the idea of bad blood. Replying to a fan, she wrote: “There will never be anything but love between us ever. She’s been there for me (in real life) every time I’ve needed somebody and I’ll always be there for her. We love each other. Bet.” Entertainment Tonight
