120 Bahadur earns respect for its subject and Farhan Akhtar’s committed lead performance, but its emotional payoff takes time to arrive. That is the clearest reservation in Hindustan Times critic Rishabh Suri’s review: the film eventually finds its footing, after spending too long in familiar war-drama territory. The result, across several three-star reviews, is a sincere tribute that does not always become the deeply moving drama it aims to be.
Does 120 Bahadur make you wait for the emotional payoff?
Yes, according to the most pointed criticism of its pacing. In his 19 November 2025 review for Hindustan Times, Rishabh Suri says the film takes time to connect emotionally and only gradually moves past familiar war-film conventions. He sums up that delay this way: “It finds its footing eventually, but only after wading through a swamp of predictability.”
That is a critical judgment, not a claim that every viewer will respond the same way. But it captures the trade-off: the film’s subject carries inherent emotional weight, while its dramatic approach takes time to make that weight felt. Sana Farzeen reaches a related conclusion in India Today, writing that the film salutes the soldiers’ bravery but falls short of delivering a deeply moving war drama.
What is the film about?
Prime Video describes 120 Bahadur as a 2025 film inspired by true events during the 1962 India-China war. Its listing identifies Farhan Akhtar as Major Shaitan Singh Bhati and Razneesh “Razy” Ghai as director. The film’s subject is the Battle of Rezang La; those descriptions establish the movie’s framing, not an independent verification of its historical details.

How do the reviews assess its strengths and weaknesses?
The four cited reviews converge around three stars, but their assessments are individual opinions, not a formal aggregate or audience poll. Together they point to a film that reviewers respect more than they admire: its tribute and performance register, while its emotional force and familiar dramatic form draw reservations.

| Review | Rating | What the critic emphasizes |
|---|---|---|
| Hindustan Times, Rishabh Suri (19 November 2025) | 3 stars | A sincere tribute whose emotional connection arrives slowly, after familiar war-drama conventions. |
| The Indian Express, Shubhra Gupta (21 November 2025) | 3/5 | Farhan Akhtar’s performance stands out in a film that balances battle action and emotion within a recognizable Bollywood dramatic mode. |
| India Today, Sana Farzeen (20 November 2025) | 3 stars | The film salutes the soldiers’ bravery but does not become as deeply moving as a war drama as it might. |
| The Times of India, Renuka Vyavahare (21 November 2025) | 3/5 | A heartfelt tribute whose execution needed greater dramatic force. |
Does the familiar war-film form help or limit it?
The recognizable mode gives the story a clear route through battlefield action and emotional beats. But Suri’s criticism is that the film leans on predictability before it finds its own footing. Gupta’s review also places it within a familiar Bollywood dramatic approach, while Farzeen and Vyavahare both see a gap between the tribute’s intention and its dramatic impact.
Do the lead performance and battle sequences carry the film?
Akhtar’s performance is a consistent point of strength in the coverage, with Gupta specifically praising it. The Indian Express also describes the film as balancing battle action with emotion. These elements provide commitment and momentum, but the reviews suggest they do not fully compensate for the slower emotional connection or the need for greater dramatic force.

Is it historically accurate?
The available film listing and reviews establish that 120 Bahadur is presented as inspired by the 1962 war and concerns the Battle of Rezang La. They are not enough to verify specific historical details, troop or casualty figures, or contested portrayals of participants. Treat those as matters of the film’s representation unless supported by independent historical sources.
