For a first K-drama watchlist, these ten series offer strong premises and a range of entry points, from warm romance to survival horror and supernatural action. The order is an editorial ranking—not a critic poll or a cross-platform popularity chart—based on premise, genre variety, and how readily each show welcomes a new viewer.

10 K-dramas to put on your watchlist
1. When Life Gives You Tangerines
IU and Park Bo-gum star in this decades-spanning romance that begins in 1960s Jeju. Its slice-of-life storytelling unfolds against a wider social backdrop, making it a strong choice if you want a relationship story with room for changing circumstances and generations.
2. Squid Game
A deadly competition turns survival into the premise and human consequences into the point. The series follows Gi-hun’s story across three seasons, giving it a high-tension hook and a clear place on a list for viewers ready for a darker, globally recognizable thriller.

3. The Glory
Moon Dong-eun pursues the people who abused her in high school in this two-part revenge drama. Its subject matter is serious and its tone is not light viewing; choose it for a focused story of retaliation rather than an easygoing watch.
4. Business Proposal
This office rom-com starts with a fake date and also gives a second couple room in the story. It is the most straightforward pick here for viewers who want a brisk, familiar romance built around comic misunderstandings rather than fantasy or danger.
Rank #2
5. Alchemy of Souls
Set in a world of mages, this period fantasy centers on a forbidden spell that moves souls between bodies. Netflix’s guide counts 30 episodes across its two parts, so it is a better fit for viewers happy to settle into a longer fantasy story.
6. Move to Heaven
A young trauma cleaner and his uncle work together after the young man’s father dies. The stories connected to the deceased give this family drama an episodic structure and a reflective emotional tone, suited to viewers who prefer human stories over a single escalating mystery.

7. All of Us Are Dead
Students are trapped at school during a zombie outbreak in this horror survival series. Netflix’s guide lists 12 episodes for the first season, which ends on a cliffhanger. Expect horror and violence; this is not the pick for viewers seeking a gentle school drama.
8. Bloodhounds
Two former Marines and boxers join forces against predatory private loan sharks in this action crime drama. Its central appeal is fighting back and friendship, making it a good alternative to romance-led plotting or supernatural fantasy.
9. D.P.
Military police pursue soldiers who have deserted in this serious drama. Across two seasons, it addresses hazing and bullying in the military, bringing a social dimension that makes it a more sobering choice than the list’s comic or fantastical entries.
10. The Uncanny Counter
Noodle-shop employees double as hunters of evil spirits in this action fantasy. Netflix describes it as emotional and suspenseful; its supernatural team premise offers a different, less bleak starting point than revenge, zombie horror, or survival competition.
