This ranked list covers films released from 2015 through 2025, following Tom’s Guide writer Rory Mellon’s stated window—not a strict rolling decade ending in 2026. The order is one critic’s personal preference, not a consensus ranking: Mellon wrote, “Instead, these are just my personal favorite thriller movies released between 2015 and 2025.” The films span social satire, courtroom suspense, espionage, crime, political intrigue and survival, so the best starting point depends on the kind of tension you want.

The ranking and premise summaries below follow Rory Mellon’s Tom’s Guide list, updated November 8, 2025. Treat the order as a personal watchlist, not an objective measurement of quality. The descriptions stick to each film’s setup to avoid giving away later developments.

Parasite (2019)
A tense, darkly comic story about social inequality and class satire. Its suspense grows from the collision of two families’ lives; it is a strong choice for viewers who want unease and sharp social observation together. Go in knowing as little as possible: the premise is enough.
-
Juror No. 2 (2024)
A juror in a murder trial begins to suspect he may have caused the victim’s death. As he weighs what to do, he tries to influence the verdict while hiding what he knows. Choose it for courtroom pressure built around a moral dilemma rather than a conventional whodunit.

The Handmaiden (2016)
Set in a period world of deception, the story brings together a Japanese heiress, a pickpocket hired as her handmaiden and a con. It is a psychological thriller whose pleasure depends on reversals, so avoid detailed plot summaries if you want those surprises to land.

Conclave (2024)

-
One Battle After Another (2025)
A former revolutionary living under an assumed identity sees his past threaten his daughter and their safety. Choose this action-thriller for a more kinetic route through danger, with family stakes at its center.
Rank #3
-
The Killer (2023)
After a job goes wrong, an assassin sets out on a pursuit shaped by the consequences of that failure. Its cool, stylized approach suits viewers looking for an assassin story rather than an ensemble mystery or institutional drama.
-
The Long Walk (2025)
Adapted from Stephen King’s novel, this dystopian survival thriller follows boys forced into an endurance contest. The central source of suspense is physical survival, making it the clearest choice for viewers who want a high-stakes contest rather than a case to solve. King’s official site lists the novel and its formats at Stephen King’s The Long Walk novel page; Scribner publisher Simon & Schuster lists a paperback edition dated September 2, 2025 at its book listing. Reading the novel is optional, not a prerequisite for the film.

How to use the ranking
Start with the suspense mode that appeals to you rather than assuming the first-ranked film is the right fit for every viewer. The entries range from clue-driven mysteries to moral conflict, institutional scheming, criminal escalation and physical survival; they are not interchangeable versions of the same thriller.
Rank #4
The ranking is not established as a broader critical consensus. For context, Rotten Tomatoes’ 2016 thriller list describes its order as reflecting scores at a December 31, 2016 snapshot, with adjusted scores subject to change as reviews arrive. Metacritic’s thriller page offers broad genre discovery and year and streaming filters, but it does not validate this particular decade list as a consensus ranking.
Where to watch these films
Streaming catalogs and rental options depend on country and change over time. The viewing links attached to the original ranking are not a durable record of current availability, so check the film’s listing in your territory before deciding where to watch it.
