Kaguya Ōtsutsuki is the strongest character shown in the original Naruto story, while peak Six Paths Naruto and Rinnegan Sasuke are the most capable fighters who ultimately stop her. This ranking compares characters at their strongest demonstrated points through the original manga’s conclusion—not later Boruto versions. The order is an editorial judgment, not an official canon list: it weighs combat scale, versatility, defense, survivability, and the conditions behind a victory.
How this ranking defines “strongest”
Raw destructive spectacle is only one part of combat strength. This list also considers how widely a character’s abilities can be applied, whether they can survive or adapt under pressure, and how reliably they can reach a win condition. A short-lived form counts, but its limits matter. A victory achieved through teamwork or a specific sealing condition does not automatically prove that one fighter simply overpowered an opponent.
The comparison stops at the conclusion of the original manga. Official episode summaries and retrospectives support key late-war feats, but neither they nor the official character data books provide a definitive strongest-character ranking. Shueisha describes its first data book as covering 137 characters and 86 techniques, and its third as containing more than 130 character profiles and 115 technique entries; those are reference-book contents, not power measurements (first data book; third data book).
The 10 strongest Naruto characters
1. Kaguya Ōtsutsuki
Kaguya ranks first for the extraordinary scale and range of her demonstrated abilities. In the official Shippuden episode 679 summary, her power sends Naruto and Sasuke to another dimension, and they cannot find a jutsu that works against her. A retrospective on the series likewise describes her immobilizing them despite their resistance. These feats make her a uniquely difficult opponent to counter, not merely a powerful attacker.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Her defeat also needs the right interpretation: Naruto and Sasuke seal her through coordinated action. That win establishes that they can meet the required sealing condition together; it does not show either one defeating her alone by straightforward force. The official summaries emphasize that distinction, describing both her overwhelming threat and the pair’s need to seal her (episode 679 summary; official retrospective; episode 683 summary).
2. Naruto Uzumaki at his Six Paths peak
At his late-war peak, Naruto has the Sage of Six Paths’ power and the combat versatility to challenge the most dangerous enemies in the story. The official episode summary says Hagoromo entrusted powers to Naruto and Sasuke; a retrospective notes that Naruto and Sasuke gained new abilities and challenged Madara. Naruto’s clones, stamina, and range of techniques make him exceptionally adaptable, while his role in the final fight against Kaguya shows that he can contribute against a foe ordinary attacks cannot answer.
His second-place position reflects both the breadth of his peak abilities and the fact that the decisive Kaguya seal depends on Sasuke’s cooperation. His strongest late-war state is the relevant comparison here, rather than later versions outside the original story’s scope.

3. Sasuke Uchiha at his Rinnegan and Six Paths peak
Sasuke’s late-war peak combines the Rinnegan with Six Paths power, giving him an unusually broad set of options in battle. He is one of the only two fighters identified in the official episode summary as able to seal Kaguya, and he participates in the coordinated effort that ends her threat. His rank reflects this high-end versatility and his ability to contend with the story’s final opponents, while recognizing that the Kaguya victory is a joint achievement rather than a solo result.
4. Madara Uchiha as the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki
Ten-Tails Madara is among the most formidable opponents in the late war. The official retrospective describes his Six Paths techniques and the Infinite Tsukuyomi, a large-scale threat that changes the battlefield far beyond a one-on-one fight. Naruto and Sasuke receive new power from Hagoromo before challenging him, underscoring the level of threat he presents.
Madara falls below Kaguya and the peak Naruto–Sasuke tier in this comparison because the story’s final conflict moves beyond him to an enemy the official summary describes as overwhelming even for those two together. That is a comparison of demonstrated threat and counterplay, not a claim that every matchup would have the same result.
Rank #3

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (7-in-1), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
5. Hagoromo Ōtsutsuki
Hagoromo belongs in the upper tier because his Six Paths power is directly tied to the late-war abilities Naruto and Sasuke receive. His importance to the conflict is clear, but the evidence cited here is stronger on what he entrusts to them than on a sustained, on-page combat performance against the other figures in this ranking. That makes fifth place a cautious placement rather than a claim that the original story supplies a definitive head-to-head verdict.
6. Obito Uchiha as the Ten-Tails’ jinchūriki
Obito’s Ten-Tails form makes him a major battlefield threat, combining immense power with abilities that affect many opponents at once. His placement below the final-war leaders reflects the later escalation of the conflict and the greater range of demonstrated threats associated with Madara, Naruto, Sasuke, and Kaguya. His strength is also tied to a particular transformation, rather than being a permanent baseline for the character.
7. Might Guy using the Eight Gates
Guy’s Eight Gates release is a peak combat state built around an extreme, brief burst of physical power. It deserves a place among the series’ strongest demonstrated abilities because its offensive pressure can challenge an exceptionally powerful opponent. Its short duration and severe cost matter, however: a peak attack does not equal a sustainable overall advantage, and surviving an encounter is not the same as winning it.

8. Hashirama Senju
Hashirama’s formidable combat reputation rests on exceptional ability and the scale of his battles, making him one of the strongest shinobi of his era. He ranks below the late-war figures because the story introduces forms and techniques with a broader scale of threat afterward. This is a cross-era comparison of demonstrated combat capability, not a judgment of his importance to the history of the shinobi world.
9. Minato Namikaze
Minato’s speed, tactical judgment, and space-time techniques make him a dangerous opponent even without the overwhelming scale of the Ten-Tails forms. He earns a place for the quality of his combat options and his ability to respond quickly, but ranks below characters whose peak states bring greater sustained battlefield reach or more difficult-to-counter abilities.
10. Itachi Uchiha
Itachi rounds out the list because his visual prowess, genjutsu, and tactical precision can create decisive openings against stronger-looking opponents. His place reflects the distinction between threat and scale: a clever, specialized technique can win a matchup, but the ranking also weighs durability, range, and peak battlefield impact. A lower position here does not mean he would lose every fight to everyone ranked above him.

Why the top positions are difficult to separate
Kaguya’s dimensional abilities and resistance make her the hardest character to answer directly. Naruto and Sasuke, meanwhile, are the key late-war fighters capable of acting on the sealing condition that ends her threat. Madara’s Infinite Tsukuyomi and Six Paths techniques demonstrate enormous scope, but the story’s escalation makes a simple “who hit hardest” comparison inadequate.
That is why the top three are best read as a tier with different strengths: Kaguya is the most overwhelming individual threat; Naruto and Sasuke are the strongest paired answer in the final conflict. Their victory establishes the power of coordination and the importance of a specific win condition, not an official ranking among them.
What the official sources establish—and what they do not
The official Naruto site’s episode summaries and retrospective support the core late-war comparisons: Hagoromo passes power to Naruto and Sasuke; they challenge Madara; and Kaguya overwhelms them until they can seal her together. The site notes that some text is machine translated, may vary by region, and is current as of publication. Shueisha’s data-book catalogue documents character profiles and techniques, but does not turn those entries into a numerical measure of strength.
Accordingly, this list is a reasoned comparison of characters at their demonstrated peaks, not a canon top ten, creator-endorsed ranking, or poll result. The precise placement of characters outside the central late-war group is more interpretive because the cited official summaries focus most directly on the final conflict.
