Nicole Byer — Nailed It!
On Netflix’s baking competition, comedian Nicole Byer hosts as amateur bakers attempt elaborate recipes. Warner Bros. Discovery identifies Byer as the show’s host and says the series premiered in 2018. Nick Cannon’s work spans two different kinds of competition. His official biography describes him as host and executive producer of the celebrity guessing game The Masked Singer, and as the creator, host, and executive producer of Wild ’N Out, a sketch-comedy competition. Johnny Knoxville — Fear Factor: The Next Chapter
FOX announced Johnny Knoxville as host of the 2025–26 season of Fear Factor: The Next Chapter, describing a contest set in remote locations and involving stunts, challenges, and social strategy. Knoxville’s association with fearless physical comedy makes him a natural fit for a format built around nerve and spectacle. Joel McHale — Celebrity Beef
In E!’s 2022 series, Joel McHale hosted celebrity cook-offs that turned public feuds into a light-hearted cooking competition. The joke lies in translating celebrity rivalry into a familiar contest with food as the proxy for a showdown. When comedians make reality TV itself the joke
The comedians behind The Joe Schmo Show
The Joe Schmo Show stages a fake reality competition around a participant who believes the show is real. Warner Bros. Discovery describes the people surrounding that participant as improv comedians, whose performances create the hoax while the format comments on reality-TV tropes. The prank mechanism is also the comic engine: the audience sees the constructed situations that the central participant does not. Warner Bros. The sketch comedians of Netflix Presents: The Characters
This is not a reality competition or a single comedian’s hosting credit. Netflix describes an anthology in which eight comedians each created and appeared in a 30-minute episode, using sketches that included parodies of formats such as The Bachelor. Nikki Glaser — Comedians Crashing Couches
Comedy Central announced this eight-episode multiplatform reality series in 2014. It followed Nikki Glaser as she moved in with housemates focused on social media and reported on their lives. The setup used the gap between Glaser’s comic sensibility and the housemates’ online-first world as a culture-clash premise, while drawing on the confessional and personal-life conventions associated with reality television. Comedy in adjacent unscripted formats
Rob Dyrdek — Ridiculousness
Ridiculousness is a clip-reaction series, not a contestant-based reality competition. Paramount Global Content describes Rob Dyrdek reacting to fail and prank videos with Steelo Brim and guests. The comedy comes from commentary on the clips and the group’s reactions, rather than from contestants completing tasks. Paramount’s page lists a Season 49 premiere for February 11, 2026, and a Season 50 renewal; those are schedule and renewal details stated on that page, not a guarantee of current availability in any particular country. Aisha Tyler and the performers of Whose Line Is It Anyway?
Whose Line Is It Anyway? is an improv game format, adjacent to reality and competition television rather than a conventional reality contest. The CW describes Aisha Tyler as host and the performers as using audience prompts for spontaneous improv games, with points awarded and a winner declared. What “comedian-led reality TV” can mean
The examples show several distinct ways comedy can change an unscripted format. A host can shape the tone of a baking, guessing, stunt, or cooking contest; improv performers can create a staged hoax; sketch comedians can parody familiar reality conventions; and a clip show can make reaction and commentary its central attraction.
