Spoilers ahead for Season 3, Episode 5, “Last Dance.” The episode’s pleasure is its uncomfortable split: Conrad is caught in the ache of loving Belly and carrying their shared history, while she is with his brother Jeremiah. That point of view makes the romantic tension sting—and, for this reviewer, makes the hour engrossing rather than merely miserable.
What happens in “Last Dance”
“Last Dance” is Season 3, Episode 5 of The Summer I Turned Pretty, listed as airing August 6, 2025. Episode coverage frames the chapter through Conrad’s perspective, with his feelings for Belly and their past set against her relationship with Jeremiah. It is that closeness—seeing the person he loves while knowing she is with someone else—that gives the episode its central tension.
The episode’s emotional focus is not just a question of which brother Belly will choose. Conrad’s experience makes the history between him and Belly feel present even as the current relationship keeps him at a painful distance. That imbalance supplies the drama: the viewer is invited to sit with what Conrad feels, not simply watch the romance from a neutral vantage point.
Why Conrad’s perspective works
Episode recaps and reviews describe “Last Dance” as a Conrad-centered chapter. That framing matters because it changes how familiar romantic complications land. Belly’s relationship with Jeremiah is the visible present; Conrad’s memories and feelings give that present its emotional charge. The episode’s perspective lets longing and restraint carry as much weight as any overt confrontation.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That approach also makes Conrad’s suffering legible without turning it into an objective measure of the episode’s quality. His pain is the dramatic material; whether watching it is enjoyable is a matter of response. Here, the friction between his heartbreak and the story’s momentum is exactly what makes the episode compelling.
The peach-stand scene and the adaptation’s history
TechRadar singles out the peach-stand scene as a notable moment. It works as a useful lens on the show’s book-to-screen choices: a shared place can hold the characters’ history in a compact, visual way, allowing the past to register without stopping the episode for explanation. That is an interpretation of the scene, not a claim about Jenny Han’s intent.

The Summer I Turned Pretty adapts Han’s book trilogy, and Amazon identifies Season 3 as the third and final season. The series description positions Conrad’s return as a disruption to Belly’s future, a broad setup that helps explain why his presence remains charged here. It is context for the episode’s romantic conflict, not a substitute for an episode-specific official synopsis.

Verdict: heartbreak makes for entertaining television
“Last Dance” earns its appeal by making Conrad’s emotional position the episode’s engine. His pain gives the scenes with Belly extra voltage, while the shared past keeps the triangle from feeling like a simple contest between brothers. The result is an episode that can be rough on Conrad and still a pleasure to watch—at least for a viewer drawn to romantic tension built from history, perspective, and everything left unsaid.
For additional episode coverage, ELLE’s recap frames the chapter around how Conrad sees Belly; TechRadar’s review discusses the peach-stand scene. These are critical interpretations, not official statements of production intent.
