The Beets on The Masked Singer were Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken, the two finalists from American Idol season two. Their identities were revealed in the show’s May 1, 2024 Season 11 episode.
How the Beets reveal happened
The show’s verified YouTube channel posted the reveal clip on May 1, 2024, identifying Clay Aiken and Ruben Studdard as the singers behind the costumes: Watch the official Beets reveal.
In the episode, titled “Soundtrack of My Life,” the Beets performed Whitney Houston’s “One Moment in Time.” Entertainment Weekly’s report, republished on Aiken’s website, describes the performance as part of the Group B finalists’ contest. Read the episode report.
Why the singers were a memorable pairing
Studdard and Aiken first became widely known as rivals on American Idol in 2003. They reached the season-two finale, where Studdard won and Aiken finished as runner-up. Later coverage described the pair as friends as well as former finalists. LiveNOW from FOX’s report
