Those dates have passed: Paramount’s 2026 materials identify season 8 as the series’ final season.
When did The Chi season 7 come out?
Paramount+ with SHOWTIME announced on March 20, 2025, that season 7 would be available on demand and to stream for subscribers with the Paramount+ with SHOWTIME plan beginning Friday, May 16, 2025. The linear on-air premiere followed on Sunday, May 18, at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The two dates refer to different ways of watching, not competing premiere dates. Paramount+’s season announcement set out the schedule.
The announcement specified the named streaming plan and a U.S. Eastern/Pacific broadcast time; it did not establish a worldwide launch schedule. Availability and timing outside those details should not be assumed to match.
What was the season 7 teaser, and when did the trailer arrive?
The March 20 release-date announcement included a teaser link. SHOWTIME announced the official season 7 trailer and key art later, on April 17, 2025. The teaser and the full trailer were separate promotional releases, so April 17 is not the date the teaser or season premiered. SHOWTIME’s series page is the official destination for the show.

What is season 7 about?
The network described the season as a turning point for Alicia, who takes the helm as the show’s pivotal women seek to reclaim power. Loyalties and rivalries are tested, and the pursuit of a crown comes at a heavy cost. The series itself is a coming-of-age drama focused on residents of Chicago’s South Side.
Is season 7 still upcoming?
No. Season 7’s May 2025 premiere is in the past. Paramount Press Express announced in 2026 that season 8 would be the final season, with a premiere date of May 22, 2026. Its May 7, 2026 release described the show as entering “its final chapter.” Paramount Press Express’s SHOWTIME releases carries the network’s later season announcement.
