Goosebumps season two is no longer upcoming: Disney released all eight episodes of Goosebumps: The Vanishing on January 10, 2025, on Disney+ and Hulu. Its biggest change was an anthology reset, with a new cast, setting, and mystery. Disney+ did not continue the series for a third season, though Sony Pictures Television was reported to be exploring other outlets; no new home has been confirmed.
What changed in season two?
Disney announced the renewal on February 10, 2024, describing the next chapter as a new story, setting, and cast rather than a continuation with season one’s characters. The season was ultimately titled Goosebumps: The Vanishing. Its story moves to Gravesend, Brooklyn, where fraternal twins Cece and Devin Brewer spend the summer with their divorced father. A threat at their home pulls the twins and their friends into a mystery involving four teenagers who disappeared in 1994. Which Goosebumps books inspired The Vanishing?
Disney named several books as sources of story elements, rather than presenting the season as an adaptation of one novel: Stay Out of the Basement, The Haunted Car, Monster Blood, The Girl Who Cried Monster, The Ghost Next Door, and Welcome to Camp Nightmare, among others. Is Goosebumps coming back for season three?
Variety reported on August 8, 2025, that Goosebumps would not return for a third season on Disney+. The publication also reported, citing an individual with knowledge of the situation, that Sony Pictures Television planned to shop the show to other outlets and explore different creative directions for the property.
