In the Sister Wives episode aired September 22, 2024, Kody Brown said Christine, Janelle and Meri chose to have him leave their homes. He also said he would not have left them, even when he no longer loved them. Those are Kody’s claims as reproduced in Us Weekly’s recap, not an independently established account of why the relationships ended.
What Kody said about leaving
Us Weekly reported that Kody rejected the idea that he had ended the relationships, saying: “I didn’t kick me out. Christine, Janelle and Meri all chose to have me leave the home.” The recap says he also maintained that he was not “playing the victim card.”
He added that he “wasn’t ever going to leave them, no matter how much I didn’t love them.” The wording comes from Us Weekly’s account of the episode; it is not a transcript independently checked here.
How the recap places the three breakups in time
Us Weekly’s recap describes three separate relationship endings, rather than one simultaneous split:

Kody’s explanation of plural marriage and divorce
In the episode, as quoted by Us Weekly, Kody described his understanding of the religious obligations involved: “The thing in plural marriage that is very funny about divorcing is a man has no choice after he’s already married,” he told the cameras. “In plural marriage, if he wants to stay faithful, and in the faith, he cannot request a divorce. It’s not allowed.”
