Spoilers for “Severance” Season 2, Episode 5, “Trojan’s Horse.” Dylan finds Irving’s hidden Exports Hall drawing and instructions behind the “Hang in There!” poster, while Mark’s reintegration brings Gemma and Ms. Casey into the same flash of memory. Helly, meanwhile, returns to Lumon after learning Helena impersonated her on the severed floor.
“Trojan’s Horse” is the official title of the fifth episode of Severance Season 2. Apple TV lists it as a 46-minute episode released February 14, 2025, with the summary: “Tensions emerge after the team suffers a loss.” The loss is Irving’s departure, but the episode’s consequences reach well beyond the farewell: his concealed clue remains behind, Helly must confront Helena’s deception, and Mark’s divided memories begin to surface in a new way.
What happens in the cold open?
The episode opens with a mysterious man carrying what look like dental tools from Optics & Design toward the elevator associated with Irving’s paintings and the Testing Floor. The sequence makes an ominous connection to the place where Ms. Casey is held, but the episode does not explain who the man is, what the tools are for, or exactly where he is going.
Why does Helly return to Lumon?
Outside Lumon, Helena’s colleagues discuss another obligement session after her experience in Dieter Eagan National Forest. Helena resists going back to the severed floor. They tell her Mark will not complete Cold Harbor without innie Helly, making Helly’s return useful to Lumon’s plan.

Helly learns Helena used her body
When Helly is back at work, Milchick frames Helena’s impersonation as executive research. Helly recognizes what happened as a violation: Helena used her body and passed herself off as Helly. The other refiners do not accept Lumon’s explanation, leaving the return shadowed by a question of consent and trust rather than treating it as a simple reunion.
What does Dylan find behind the “Hang in There!” poster?
At Irving’s Lumon-sanctioned funeral, the company marks the occasion with a watermelon carved in Irving’s likeness. Dylan spots the “Hang in There!” poster and looks behind it. There he finds Irving’s drawing of the Exports Hall and directions written on the reverse.

The discovery is the episode’s concrete answer to what Irving left behind: a hidden drawing and instructions. Dylan looks at the clue and puts it back; he does not take it or act on the directions in this episode. The hallway matters because it connects to the imagery Irving repeatedly painted and to his outie’s apparent interest in Lumon.
Why the poster slogan matters
The poster is both a hiding place and an echo. TIME notes that Irving said goodbye to Dylan with “Hang in there” before Milchick terminated him in Episode 4. In this episode, the same words frame a secret Irving left for Dylan, giving the slogan a second meaning in retrospect.

What does the title “Trojan’s Horse” mean?
The title invites suspicion about what may be hidden inside Lumon—or inside someone Lumon believes it controls. TIME interprets Irving as a possible Trojan horse: apparently part of the company’s world, but perhaps carrying a threat or plan. That is a reading of the episode, not a confirmed reveal. The drawing and directions are shown; Irving’s full purpose and what the Exports Hall clue will lead to remain unknown.

Reghabi uses objects associated with Gemma in an attempt to prompt Mark’s memory. Mark hears Ms. Casey’s voice, then experiences a flash in which he sees Gemma as Ms. Casey on the severed floor. The moment suggests that memories are bleeding across the boundary created by severance, but the episode does not establish the precise mechanism or resolve what Mark will remember next.

This episode makes that division feel less secure through Mark’s experience, without explaining how reintegration works.
