What happens to Mark in “Attila”?
Reghabi sees a path toward reintegration
The episode opens with Mark discussing his vivid encounter with Gemma, whom he knew on the severed floor as Ms. Casey, with Dr. Reghabi. The experience leaves him unsettled, but also willing to consider that Gemma might still be recoverable. Reghabi insists that Gemma is essential to the reintegration effort.
Later, after events at Lumon, Mark experiences a memory crossover: he cannot tell whether he is in the company or in his basement with Reghabi. She treats the confusion as a positive sign for reintegration and proposes flooding his severance chip through the existing opening in his head. Mark becomes frustrated and disoriented, then leaves to find food.

The episode’s recap ends on a disturbing image of Mark foaming at the mouth. It does not establish whether he survives or whether the proposed reintegration succeeds, so neither outcome is confirmed here.
Why does Milchick say, “You must grow up”?
A review becomes a private reprimand
Milchick tells Miss Huang that his performance review raised valid concerns and says he looks forward to addressing them. He reminds her that she cannot graduate from her fellowship until he considers her “Wintertide material.” He describes that standard in terms of efficiency, duty, and eliminating childish folly, then assigns her to watch the severed floor from her desk.
Rank #2
Later, alone in a supply closet, Milchick repeatedly attaches paper clips to stacks of papers as he revisits the negative review, which criticized his use of big words. Facing a mirror, he rehearses the formal line “You must eradicate from your essence childish folly,” strips it down to “You must grow up,” and finally shouts, “Grow!” The short lines are reported as episode dialogue by Filmibee’s recap and The Ringer’s recap; no official script or transcript is cited here.
The scene can be read as Milchick turning managerial judgment inward: he takes the criticism of his language and repeats it as a command to himself. That is an interpretation of the moment, not a confirmed explanation of his motives. His increasingly blunt wording and anger make the change in tone visible.

What changes between Mark and Helly?
In a bathroom stall, Mark and Helly discuss Milchick’s threats and his attempt to divide them. Mark admits that he had sex with Helena while she was occupying Helly’s body. Helly initially thinks he means Ms. Casey, then understands that he means Helena. She is angry that Helena used her body, manipulated her friends, and controls the innies.
Helly does not want to hear Helena’s version of the encounter; she says she wants a memory of her own. She and Mark find an unused office, improvise a private space beneath a desk, and kiss and have sex. Afterward, Helly asks whether it was different with her. Mark answers by kissing her. He then has a nosebleed, and after Miss Huang questions him, he abruptly shifts back to his outie context with Reghabi.

During another visit in the Outie Family Visitation Suite, Dylan tries to learn about the life his innie cannot remember. Gretchen describes some of his outie’s interests and admits she wonders whether he is happy. Dylan says he wishes they could be together all the time and asks if they can try hugging again. The embrace becomes a kiss.
The intimacy is complicated by the fact that Dylan’s innie speaks as though he and Gretchen could share a life, while Gretchen is married to his outie. The visit brings that divide into focus without resolving what it means for their relationship.

Does Burt’s dinner reveal a problem in Lumon’s timeline?
Irving visits Burt and Burt’s husband, Fields, for dinner. Fields recalls that he and Burt once had drinks with Burt’s Lumon partner about 20 years earlier. Irving challenges the recollection: as he understands it, the first severed office opened only 12 years earlier. Fields blames the mismatch on drinking, but the scene leaves it unresolved.
The discrepancy invites suspicion, but it does not prove that Burt or Fields is lying, nor does it establish a hidden history. The episode offers a contradiction in recollections, not an answer to it.
