The SNL50 anxiety song is the official digital short “Digital Short: Anxiety – SNL50,” in which Andy Samberg reassures Bowen Yang that anxiety is shared by people who have worked at Saturday Night Live. Its bright musical-comedy framing turns the show’s own workplace history into the joke—not a general statement about anxiety disorders.
What is the SNL50 anxiety song?
It is a pre-recorded SNL digital short published by the official Saturday Night Live YouTube channel on February 16, 2025. The channel’s synopsis describes Samberg reassuring Yang that anxiety is common among people who have worked at SNL.

The short also appeared among the sketches in the SNL 50th anniversary special. Peacock’s recap of the special characterizes its premise as SNL veterans and workers being a “hot mess of anxiety.” That makes the joke specifically about the pressures attached to the show and its history, rather than a diagnosis or clinical explanation.
How the musical joke works
The setup is a reassurance song: Yang is anxious in the anniversary-special context, and Samberg broadens the frame by treating that anxiety as something shared across generations of people who have worked on the show. The humor comes from applying an upbeat musical form to stress associated with a famous, demanding workplace—and from making SNL’s own institutional past part of the material.

Reviewers supplied more detail about the style than the official synopsis does. The Washington Post described the pre-recorded song as a send-up of stress, panic, and other ailments among cast members and backstage personnel in its review of the anniversary special. TIME called attention to its ’80s-pop-style music-video approach and a rap breakdown featuring Sarah Sherman and Chris Parnell in its discussion of the special’s musical comedy.
Where it fits in the SNL50 special
The short works both as a standalone SNL video and as one entry in the anniversary special’s sketch lineup. Its premise depends on the show’s long institutional memory: Samberg’s reassurance lands as a joke about the people who have passed through SNL, while the musical format makes that shared history part of the performance.
Rank #2
The contrast is useful when interpreting the piece. The official listing gives the basic Samberg-and-Yang setup; Peacock places it within the full special; the Post and TIME describe the stress theme and pop-video flourishes from a critical perspective. Those descriptions are reviews, not additional official plot details.
