Spoilers for Seasons 1 and 2. Joanne and Noah are together at the end of Season 2. Noah chooses her whether or not she converts, while Joanne realizes her interest in Judaism is her own—not simply a way to keep the relationship. Netflix says the finale is meant to imply that Joanne tells Noah. Their reunion answers the immediate question of whether they break up, but it does not show a completed conversion or settle every practical question about their future.
What happens at the end of Season 1?
Joanne tells Noah she cannot convert for him. Noah runs after her and says he chooses her, and they reconcile. The gesture is romantic, but it does not mean they have reached the same understanding about what conversion might mean for their future.
Netflix’s account of the finale says Joanne believed conversion had been tabled indefinitely, while Noah understood it as paused but still possible. That difference becomes important in Season 2: their reconciliation has not erased the question or resolved what each of them expects.
What happens at the end of Season 2?
After a conversation with Esther, Joanne recognizes her connection to Jewish identity and goes to find Noah. Noah has separately decided that he wants to be with Joanne whether or not she converts. They reunite and kiss.

The two finales deliberately reverse who makes the pursuit: Noah runs after Joanne in Season 1; Joanne runs toward Noah in Season 2. The second ending resolves their immediate separation, while keeping the decisions distinct. Noah chooses the relationship without making conversion a condition in that moment; Joanne is drawn to Judaism for reasons of her own.
Does Joanne decide to convert?
The finale shows Joanne recognizing her interest in Jewish identity and considering what it means for her. It does not show a completed conversion or lay out a conversion process. Netflix’s official explanation says the writers intended viewers to understand that Joanne tells Noah about her realization, even though the scene leaves that disclosure implicit.

So the clearest reading is not that Joanne converts to keep Noah. Her decision is developing independently, while Noah’s choice is to be with her regardless. The show leaves their longer-term religious and practical questions open.
Do Joanne and Noah break up?
No. They reunite and kiss in the Season 2 finale. Their relationship is intact at the end of the season, although the episode does not suggest that commitment makes every difference between them disappear.

What has Netflix announced about Season 3?
Netflix announced that Season 3 premieres on October 22, 2026, with all ten episodes arriving that day. As of October 7, 2026, the season has not premiered, so its ending and episode-by-episode events are not established here.
The announced setup moves Joanne and Noah into a shared home as they experience early milestones of building a more settled life together. Netflix’s preview also mentions Sasha and Esther returning to dating and Morgan’s career developing. That is a premise for the next season, not confirmation that the couple’s conflicts are over.

Why the two endings matter
The Season 1 finale leaves Joanne and Noah with different assumptions about whether conversion is still part of their future. Season 2 gives each character a separate choice rather than treating one person’s decision as the price of the other’s love. The series’ next announced chapter shifts from “will they?” toward how they navigate a shared life, while leaving the specifics of that life to Season 3.
