Jimmy later described a recurring argument and said Chelsea’s on-camera disclosure about his past hookup with a friend had damaged his trust. Those are their separate accounts of why it did not work.
What happened after filming ended?
After their engagement ended on the show, Chelsea and Jimmy tried dating again for a few days, Chelsea said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly, republished by Yahoo on March 14, 2024. She said, “we tried our hardest and it just didn’t work out.”
Chelsea said Jimmy ended that attempt by phone: “He called me and said he realized he didn’t want a relationship.” She added, “This experiment was a lot on him and it just didn’t work out.” Her remarks describe what she said Jimmy told her, rather than establishing his private reasoning independently.
Why did Jimmy say it did not work?
In reunion coverage by Us Weekly, Jimmy said they kept returning to the same argument and eventually agreed the relationship was not going to work. He said Chelsea’s disclosure on camera that he had previously hooked up with a friend “broke [his] trust” in a major way.

The accounts emphasize different parts of the breakup: Chelsea recalled the phone call ending their short post-filming attempt, while Jimmy described the repeated conflict and trust issue. The available reporting does not establish a single cause that fully explains the split.
How the second breakup differed from the show’s ending
On the show, Chelsea and Jimmy became engaged in the pods, then ended the engagement before the wedding following conflict that included Chelsea’s disclosure about Jimmy’s past hookup. Their brief attempt to date after filming was a separate, later chapter—not a continuation of the engagement shown in the finale.

The Season 6 reunion did not disclose their current relationship status, according to Us Weekly’s reunion recap. Netflix’s November 26, 2025 cast update later described both Chelsea and Jimmy as single. That is a dated update, not confirmation of their status after its publication.
