Spoilers for 9-1-1 Season 8: Bobby Nash, played by Peter Krause, dies in Season 8, Episode 15, “Lab Rats,” after sacrificing himself to save his team. Angela Bassett said Ravi was initially mentioned as a possible death—but immediately cautioned that it may have been a misdirect, not a confirmed earlier plan.
Who dies in 9-1-1 Season 8, Episode 15?
Bobby Nash is the character who dies in “Lab Rats.” The episode aired April 17, 2025, according to EntertainmentNow. Bobby gives his life to save members of his team, making his death the central turn in the Season 8 story.
Bassett, who plays Athena Grant and is also an executive producer, said she had not seen the death coming. “Absolutely not. Not an inkling, not a word, not birdies, nothing,” she said in an interview with Tim Minear republished as a transcript by Buffyverse and Beyond.
Was Ravi originally supposed to die instead?
Bassett named Ravi, the firefighter once known as a “probie,” when asked about another possible target. But her answer was explicitly uncertain: “That may have just been a misdirect, but initially it was Ravi, the probie; well, he is not a probie anymore.”

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That qualification matters. Bassett’s remark establishes that Ravi came up in the conversation; it does not confirm that an earlier script definitively made him the intended victim. Minear, the showrunner and an executive producer, said Bobby’s death was a creative choice. Asked whether the decision was “100%” creative, he replied, “100%.” He explained that the lab-leak story gave him an opportunity to kill a character whose death would affect the ensemble in different ways, according to the interview transcript.
How does Bobby and Athena’s goodbye unfold?
Bassett said the cast filmed two versions of Bobby and Athena’s farewell. In the version used, Athena remains with Bobby through the glass as he prays. In the alternative, she leaves and breaks down with Buck. Bassett’s line in the chosen scene is: “I’m here for all the parts that we have left.”
