Who made the sequel?
Kyle Newacheck directs, and Sandler co-wrote the film with Tim Herlihy, who also co-wrote the original. Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds are producers; Dennis Dugan is an executive producer. Rotten Tomatoes lists Newacheck as director and Sandler and Herlihy as writers.

Newacheck told Tudum that the timing felt right amid a renewed wave of golf popularity. He also said he and his brother connected with the original’s clash between high and low society and the outsider entering a country club. That outsider-versus-country-club tension remains a useful lens for the sequel’s world.
Is Happy Gilmore 2 worth watching?
It depends on what you want from a sequel. If you’re returning for Sandler’s slapstick, familiar characters and golf-world cameos, the film offers those pleasures. If you’re looking for a story that moves decisively beyond callbacks, the critical response suggests more reservations.

At the research check, Rotten Tomatoes showed 61% from 127 critics and 64% from more than 5,000 audience ratings. Those scores are a snapshot, not a guarantee of an individual viewer’s reaction. The site’s critics consensus says the film “thwacks hard with nostalgia when it should’ve putted,” while noting that Sandler and company seem to be enjoying themselves.
The Associated Press likewise described the Netflix release as a return for familiar faces such as Bowen, Stiller and McDonald, alongside new co-stars including Bad Bunny, Post Malone and golf figures. The overall proposition is a nostalgia-forward comedy, with fresh celebrity and golf cameos layered onto Happy’s new comeback.
