Spoilers for the ending and post-credits scene. The masked killer in Netflix’s Fear Street: Prom Queen is Dan Falconer (Chris Klein), Tiffany Falconer’s father. He targets the prom court to ensure Tiffany wins. The final reveal shows that Nancy and Tiffany are involved too, while Lori Granger survives the Falconers’ attack and is crowned prom queen.

Who is the killer in Fear Street: Prom Queen?

As candidates and some of their boyfriends are targeted, Lori Granger is eventually crowned prom queen. The masked attacker then comes for her. Lori stabs him with her tiara, and when the mask comes off, the killer is Dan Falconer, Tiffany’s father. His motive is to secure the crown for Tiffany: as Dan puts it, “the Falconers cannot lose.”

Chris Klein describes Dan’s mindset this way: “Dan believes he’s totally justified, that this is what has to happen.” That conviction helps explain his actions, but it does not make them less calculated: he is attacking students to control who wins prom queen.

Were Nancy and Tiffany involved?

Yes. After the prom, Lori is taken to the Falconer home to recover, where she discovers that Dan was not acting alone. Nancy and Tiffany are part of the scheme. The family reveal turns the apparent one-person killing spree into a conspiracy aimed at the candidates and the crown.

Who really killed Lori’s father?

Nancy confesses that she killed Lori’s father years earlier, after he left Nancy for Rose, Lori’s mother. The town had blamed Rose, so Nancy’s confession overturns the story that shaped Lori’s family’s reputation. Learning the truth is the turning point for Lori. Actor India Fowler describes her response: “I think that really is the moment where it’s like, ‘I will fight now.’ ”

What happens to Lori, Tiffany, and Nancy?

Lori fights back against the Falconers. She knocks Tiffany down the stairs, where Tiffany is impaled on a decoration, and kills Nancy with a trophy. Lori leaves alive, having survived the attack and won the prom queen crown.

What does the post-credits rune mean?

In the post-credits scene, blood from Nancy’s head wound drips into a runic shape associated by Netflix Tudum with the original Fear Street trilogy. The image links Prom Queen visually to the wider franchise’s supernatural lore, but it does not spell out a specific next event or establish that a named character is possessed. The human whodunit is resolved; the rune leaves the franchise connection open.

How does the film relate to R.L. Stine’s book?

Netflix identifies Fear Street: Prom Queen as the first film in the franchise drawn from one specific book: R.L. Stine’s 1992 novel The Prom Queen. The film is a 2025 standalone screen story, and the available official coverage does not establish that the novel has the same characters, killer, or ending. Do not assume the book’s reveal matches the movie’s.

Director Matt Palmer calls it “a stand-alone film” and says the original trilogy told a complete story. He has also described the new film as able to intersect with that trilogy “in a slightly different way.” That is a framing of the film’s relationship to the franchise, not confirmation of a particular sequel or future plot.
