Quién era Frey Matilla
Matilla era parte del equipo de Despierta América y trabajaba como operador de teleprompter. El presentador Raúl González lo recordó como “un compañero que durante muchos años alegró las mañanas detrás de cámaras, como operador de teleprompter”. People en Español informó que el programa anunció su fallecimiento el 1 de septiembre de 2025; su nota fue actualizada al día siguiente.
El homenaje y las condolencias del equipo
Al comunicar la noticia, González expresó: “Estamos de luto”. También envió sus condolencias a Irma, esposa de Matilla, y a sus hijos Brian y Daisy.
La exconductora Neida Sandoval publicó un mensaje de despedida en el que agradeció el cariño que Matilla le demostró durante los años que trabajaron juntos en Univisión y Despierta América. Satcha Pretto también expresó su pesar y pidió que descansara en paz.
