Chris McKinnell, identified in coverage as Ed and Lorraine Warren’s grandson, reportedly reacted to comedian Matt Rife’s purchase of the Warrens’ former home by saying, “I’d never even heard of him.” Rife acquired the Monroe, Connecticut, property with YouTuber Elton Castee—but it was not the Rhode Island house associated with the first The Conjuring film.
What did the Warrens’ grandson say about Matt Rife?
A ComingSoon headline attributed the remark “I’d never even heard of him” to Chris McKinnell in response to Rife buying the former Warren home. The full interview page was not accessible, so the wording should be understood as reported by that headline; there is no basis here to infer McKinnell’s tone or add surrounding dialogue. ComingSoon and a syndicated Yahoo headline carried the reported wording.
Which Warren property did Matt Rife buy?
Rife and YouTuber Elton Castee acquired Ed and Lorraine Warren’s former residence in Monroe, Connecticut. The property included the Occult Museum, according to WSHU.
He did not buy the Perron house from the film
The Monroe residence is not the Perron family farmhouse in Harrisville, Rhode Island, associated with the 2013 film The Conjuring. The Warren family organization’s history page connects the Perron case to the film; it is a separate property from the Monroe home acquired by Rife and Castee.

The artifacts were a separate arrangement
Buying the property did not mean buying the museum artifacts. WSHU reported that Tony Spera said he and Judy retained ownership of the collection and leased it to Rife and Castee as part of a caretaking arrangement for at least five years. The arrangement therefore concerned stewardship and use of the collection, not a transfer of ownership.

The property operator advertises private overnight stays with museum access through its official website. It also says visitors should respect the residential neighborhood and that unapproved visits are not permitted; this is not an ordinary walk-in public museum.

The operator’s website gives conflicting information about where artifacts are currently located. A dated notice says that, as of August 24, 2026, Annabelle, the Shadow Doll, the Satanic Idol, the “Devil Made Me Do It” dinosaur, the Conjuring Mirror and other artifacts were being moved to a new public museum. Other FAQ text on the same site still says Annabelle and the full collection will be at the Connecticut property. Because the site conflicts with itself, check directly with the operator before booking if seeing a specific object is important.
