When Jujutsu Kaisen ended with Chapter 271, fellow manga creators sent Gege Akutami messages of thanks, praise and encouragement. The most memorable line came from WITCH WATCH creator Kenta Shinohara, who urged Akutami to rest—and then “come back to Hell on Earth again.”
When did Jujutsu Kaisen end?
Jujutsu Kaisen concluded with Chapter 271. VIZ’s official Chapter 271 listing records the final installment, while the publisher’s September 29, 2024 Mangaka Musings page labels Akutami’s entry “It’s the final chapter!” The series had begun serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018, according to VIZ’s series page.

Akutami’s note was brief: “It’s the final chapter! Thank you for all your support! I’ll do my best to prepare for the next challenge!” VIZ published that English-language transcription on September 29, 2024.
What did Shonen Jump creators say to Gege Akutami?
In a report published September 30, 2024, Animehunch reproduced English renderings of farewell messages from Akutami’s fellow manga creators. The selection included Hitsuji Gondaira (Mission: Yozakura Family), Yoshifumi Tozuka (Undead Unluck), Shuhei Miyazaki (Me & Roboco), Yuto Suzuki (SAKAMOTO DAYS), Yusei Matsui (The Elusive Samurai), Kenta Shinohara (WITCH WATCH) and Kouji Miura (Blue Box), among others. Their remarks ranged from gratitude for Akutami’s years of work to praise for specific aspects of the manga and lighthearted encouragement. These are Animehunch’s translations; the wording should be understood as that report’s English rendering.

Kenta Shinohara’s “Hell on Earth” message
Shinohara’s message, as translated and reproduced by Animehunch, reads: “Thank you for your hard work, Akutami-sensei. Please get plenty of rest and make sure to come back to Hell on Earth again.” The line pairs a familiar farewell—rest after a demanding run—with a playful reference to the harsh world of Jujutsu Kaisen. It is encouragement for Akutami to return after a break, not a serious claim about how readers received the ending.
Thanks, praise and jokes from peers
The other comments took different angles. Animehunch’s translation has Undead Unluck creator Yoshifumi Tozuka thanking Akutami for the manga’s facial expressions and emotional dialogue, while SAKAMOTO DAYS creator Yuto Suzuki called Jujutsu Kaisen “the coolest manga ever.” These short lines convey admiration, but they do not speak for every creator or reader.
Rank #2
VIZ’s own September 29 comments page offers a separate, English-language selection of creator remarks, including entries from Kouji Miura, Kouki Ishikawa, Kota Kawae and Yusei Matsui alongside Akutami’s. It is useful to distinguish that official page’s selection from the broader group of reactions reproduced in Animehunch’s report.
What the farewell messages do—and don’t—tell us
The comments are evidence of how a number of fellow creators marked Akutami’s final chapter: with thanks, admiration, humor and wishes for rest or future work. They are not an audience survey, and they do not establish a single consensus about whether readers approved or disapproved of the ending.
Where to read the completed manga
VIZ identifies Jujutsu Kaisen, Vol. 30 as the final collected volume. It is the print-volume conclusion, distinct from the original magazine chapter and VIZ’s Chapter 271 listing. The volume page gives ISBN-13 978-1-9747-6340-5 and a listed release date of May 12, 2026; retailer availability can change.
