Anaconda is not a straightforward reboot: Sony describes it as an original comedy inspired by the earlier film. It follows longtime friends who set out to make their own version of their favorite movie in the Amazon, where a real giant anaconda turns their production into a fight for survival. Sony lists a UK release date of February 10, 2026; that date is specific to the UK, and the sources cited here do not establish the original U.S. theatrical date.
Is the new Anaconda a reboot?
No. Sony’s official U.S. film page states, “THIS IS NOT A REBOOT,” describing the movie as an original comedy inspired by the 1997 film Anaconda. It is best understood as a meta comedy about friends trying to make their own film—not as a conventional remake or a direct continuation of the earlier story. Sony Pictures’ official film page

What is the plot?
Childhood friends Doug McCallister and Ronald “Griff” Griffen Jr. have long wanted to remake their favorite movie. Doug is a wedding videographer and Griff is a struggling actor. During a midlife crisis, they take a small film crew to the Amazon to shoot their low-budget project. When the rented snake is accidentally killed, the group ventures farther into the jungle and encounters a much larger, real predator. The premise turns the act of making an Anaconda-inspired movie into the danger at the center of the comedy. Netflix Tudum’s plot and streaming guide

Where can you watch it?
Availability depends on territory and can change. Sony’s U.S. page currently lists 4K UHD, Blu-ray, and digital, and names Amazon among retailers for physical editions. Sony’s UK page lists digital availability. Netflix Tudum reported on March 25, 2026, that the film was streaming on Netflix; that report establishes availability at that time, not a guarantee that it remains in every country’s library. Check the service or retailer in your region for current options. Sony Pictures U.S. Sony Pictures UK Netflix Tudum
