Jason Momoa plays Garrett, while the sheep’s “freaky” reputation is a playful description, not wording used in the studio’s official announcement.
What the trailer shows
A Minecraft Movie adapts the video game as a live-action adventure. In the film’s premise, Garrett, Henry, Natalie and Dawn are pulled through a portal into the Overworld. They must learn to navigate its unfamiliar rules and make their way home, with Steve joining them.
Mojang’s February 27, 2025 trailer announcement says the footage visits the Nether and features more mobs. Creepers and a sheep fit the game-inspired world the film brings to the screen, but Mojang’s announcement does not call the sheep “freaky.” That adjective belongs to the headline’s playful framing, not an official characterization.
Who plays Steve and Garrett?

- Jason Momoa plays Garrett “The Garbage Man” Garrison.
The official cast list also names Emma Myers, Danielle Brooks, Sebastian Hansen and Jennifer Coolidge. Jared Hess directs the film, presented by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures and distributed by Warner Bros. [Warner Bros. and Legendary’s official film site]
