The Bondsman is an eight-episode Prime Video series starring Kevin Bacon as Hub Halloran, a murdered bounty hunter brought back from the dead to hunt demons. Its supernatural action sits alongside an estranged-family story and Hub’s effort to reclaim his life, love and country-music ambitions. That mix makes it a plausible weekend pick if you want horror with character drama; whether it is right for you depends in part on its content advisories.
What is The Bondsman about?
Blumhouse’s official synopsis describes Hub Halloran as a murdered bounty hunter who returns from the dead with an unexpected second chance, only to discover a demonic twist to his former job. The premise pairs a recurring demon-hunt setup with Hub’s unfinished business: family relationships, past mistakes, and a nearly forgotten musical career.
Music is part of the story, not just a detail in Hub’s backstory. The series’ score album, The Bondsman (Prime Video Original Series Soundtrack) by Tyler Bates and Travis Sedg Bacon, is listed on Apple Music as a digital release dated April 10, 2025, with 19 songs and a 44-minute running time. That listing establishes a digital edition, not a CD or vinyl release.
Is it a good weekend watch?
It is a reasonable choice for a weekend if you want a compact season with both supernatural action and an ongoing personal story. Prime Video lists eight episodes, and the demon-hunting premise gives the series a repeatable engine while Hub’s family and second-chance story carries across episodes. That is a recommendation based on format and premise, not a claim about a particular viewer’s pace or how many hours the season takes to finish.

The tone may be a better fit for viewers who enjoy violent supernatural material than for anyone looking for a light or family-friendly series. Prime Video’s title listing includes advisories for violence, frightening scenes, substance and alcohol use, tobacco, offensive language and sexual content. Check the rating and advisories shown on your local Prime Video page: localized listings can differ, so there is no single age label that applies everywhere.
How many episodes are there, and when did they arrive?
The first season has eight episodes. Prime Video’s listing gives April 3, 2025 as the release date for the listed episodes, so “new” is no longer an accurate description as of October 2026. Episode availability and the rest of the title page can vary by territory.
